Problem joining through Gamespy

Once again I find myself helpless. When I start up the new Gamespy, I find the Ville.orgIII. But, it wont let me log in. It tells me "the name has been reserved, try an other name." So, I go Gamespy and edit my profile. But none of the names I tried work. Also, when I log onto other servers, I join as "Player". Someone tell me what Im doing wrong, Thanks!

I don't think The Ville servers allow people with the name "player" in their name. If you change your name it should work.

It's not your name in gamespy thet's the problem, its your name as defined in your tfc config file.

Edit your config file with a name other than "Player". Try something clever, like "FragFailure"

Thank you very much. How do I edit my cfg files? I'd like to keep my "Stoney" name.

you edit config files with Notepad. Look in your "half-life/TFC" directory for a file called "config.cfg". Open that file with notepad and look for this

name "Player"

just change the name player to Stoney and you should be able to play.

one question, what version of gamespy are you using, are you using arcade or 3d?
