Hey Silver I have a question or anyone in general?!? I'm going to purchase a computer for my own sake so I don't have to use Swift's computer with a GE 2 with 48 mem I think. When I purchase the darn thing will I need to download/update the drivers or is it already updated? Thanks.

Well, I just DLed the detonator. I have an nVidia GeForce 2 MX/MX 400. When I would bring up the TFC screens, they didn't fill my screen, oddly. Now they do. Everything in TFC is clearer and better proportioned.

They have DLs for all versions of Windows as well as for Mac. Just go through the links and you can choose what version of windows you are running.
And, they have the detenator for most of their cards, I believe, if not all. I seem to recall seeing something about the 2 Ultra.
It is an 8 meg DL. It took me a minute to DL, I have DSL. But for you modem users, be prepared for it to take a bit longer.

Trigger, you always need to update the drives to all your hardware, exp. when you first buy it. It'll have working drivers, but you'll want to dload the latest and greatest drivers as to take full advantage of your hardware.
A driver is a sort of mediator that allows software to communicate properly with hardware. The reason you need to update your drivers (every month or two) is because the creators of the hardware are continually optimizing their hardware to work better/faster.
Detonator drivers are for most consumer cards produced by nVidia. Some professional video cards aren't support in the detonator drivers, but I doubt any card used for gaming from nVidia isn't covered.
Here's the link to the generic drivers from nVidia, go to your manf. page do download ones that'll take advantage of special features on your card. Try your manf. page first, then this link:

I am smiling. they have improved my vision! Everthing seems crisper. You know how these things are though. Without having them next to each other its always hard to tell when the difference is slight.

Im glad this has helped some of you guys.
Yes Trigger, it is always good to update your drivers from time to time like Torak said. It is also a good idea to run windows update here and there to make sure you have the latest updates for windows too. Defragging your drivers and running scandisk is also very important once in awile. Keeps that system running smooth.
Assassin : Do you use a geforce based card? Halflife is optimized for OpenGL. Hardware and software mode don't compare to OpenGL mode with this game. Its much smoother and you also get graphics that you dont see in the other modes, like blood and gun powder stains on walls, etc. Many set the game in hardware thinking directX, but like many games that were made around that time.. OpenGL was way better. Try it
