TV log file trivia

So the inidivdual TV server log files keep track of EVERYTHING that transpires between players during a game. How large do these files get? Well, for TV4 which went live on Oct 5, 2001 at 14:09hrs, it has 5937 log files totalling 505,944KB or almost 506MB!! (Time to cut a CD for it!) It's 1 log file created for each new map so that's 5937 map changes!

The Grudge, which was born over the New Year of 2002, has 1290 files totalling about 30MB.

I can't even imagine how large TV1, 2, and 3 are right now, but it'll be interesting to find out!

Stating in your resume that you know all this info prob won't get you a job. I guess that's trivia for you!

I think what darkwor meant was how was this a trivia question-- What munk meant was that the info about the Log Files is trivial information.

hypothetical question:

Why do you keep logs from over a year ago? So you can tell us how big they are? ^_~

only 500MB? lol.. the hood went live at 01/23/2002 and so far it has accumlated 314MB in log files. The funny thing is that those 314MBs can be compressed into a 26MB zip file!

speaking of log files, I dont suppose you guys have come across a program to show only the chat readout of a log directory?

yeah, it was kinda slow in the beginning, and it wasnt 24/7 till much later on. Dunno of any chat programs out there but it will be useful to have one to sift through all the text I'm sure!
