Reality Check time guys/gals: SOAPBOX

Thank-you Frag for the post. I was wondering when it was going to come.
We all have to ask ourselves what was the idea of the game orginally and is it time to decide if the game is to be fun or should it be totally a competion to be the best. In the 6 months that I have been playing the atmosphere has gone downhill for me at least.
I agree some people do take the game far to seriously and the fun mode is great cause it tends to take the seriousness out of it and adds variety to ones line of thought and game play.
There are times especially lately where I have thought to myself that the admins were going to say the hell with you all. We are not running the TVBBKDCC which is The Ville Brotherhood Big Kid Day Care Center with all the whinning and bitching going on at times.
We have to remember how many players get on our servers and how many that can't. The reason they can't is that the servers are full and the reason for that is that we have a excellent reputation out there in cyber space and that is because of the administration and the regular players on board.
The essence of the game is enjoyment. When the game gets taken to seriously it becomes competative and you loose the enjoyment of the game. The game is intended to be fun and used for stress relief etc. The people in the game create the atmosphere as to weather or not the game continues to be fun for us all. If it is no longer fun then why bother playing it.
In closing I would like to see the administrators stay the course cause I for one think that you are doing a hell of a good job for many many people.

HEY I don't know if this is possible, but I just got a REALLY good idea (meaning it prolly can't be done.)

yknow how like 2 slots are reserved for admins? Make like 5 of TV1's 20 slots reserved for regulars... you could like make it so we put in our mssg board password to see if we are regs... I know prolly not possible. ZStill a good idea tho

Frag i just realised what do you mean TV has 7 servers? That's counting 2 DOd ones you say? Theres only 1 dod one... im confused.

First an amen, then a modest proposal....

This thread expresses a lot of stuff I've been feeling. I like having the ville to play in. I'm not the best player, I'm not the worst, but I feel at home and I *know* playing on the ville is making me better. So I'm always surprised when I come to the forums and see the tense posts. It's fun! It's great! A llama lasts maybe thirty minutes at the most. In the meantime we have the Ville all week long.

The proposal: I wonder if the steady diet of Avanti, Warpath, etc. contributes to the seriousness. I can't get enough of some of those maps, but the other day I played a basketball map on another server, and it had me laughing out loud more than Avanti has in a long time. It's silly, it's back to basic skills, and it doesn't matter whether you know exactly how to rocket jump to cap point 2.

I wonder if we could try a dose of "silly map day" on one server, or have an experimental server that lets us a) play with the cool folks from the ville and b) play with new maps. If we hate 'em, we don't use 'em again. And we have fun mocking them and whining about how much they suck. If we like 'em, then we have a new playground.

we just had a fun map night, like 2 weeks ago. It sucked though lol cause someone *cough cough* forgot to password the server
