Yeah, my friends say it is great, but I have retail, so I've never actually played it.
Is it kinda like TFC??

Half-Life is one of the best 1st person shooters ever. Instead of hordes of monsters you have a few well placed ones that pop up like scenes in a movie. The story is well done and elaborate. I've beaten it on all difficulties without cheats, as well as beating "Blue Shift" and "Opposing Forces" which are addons to Half-Life single player. In Blue Shift you play as Barney, the security guard you pass in the opening credits, he's banging on the door to get let in. And In Opposing Forces you play as the marines sent in to kill gordon freeman and the monsters. Both have new monsters and a nice Half-Life realism pack. An Overall well made game that must be played through to appreciate.

007 for N64 was classic, perfect dark was even better but it never stuck like 007 with my friends. 4 player with your buddies, man I remember sitting around drinkin a beer or two playing that game for hours. I think HL picked up alot from that game and made it much better. Any one else agree?

Max payne wasn't all that great... ok, maybe it was, but it wasn't as good as you make it sound. Though i did like how they gave the story to you.
Halflife on the other hand has a very amazing story with entirly too many dead ends. It would be good with a bit more fleshing out, but instead they let you hang, so you are forced to go out and buy op for and blue shift only to realise they don't expand on the story either. Then you get frustraded and punch your monitor. |

Once you get past the first stages, the storyline sucks you in and doesn't let go until the end. I recommend toughing out the beginning to get farther along. Oh BTW, HL is nearly 5 years old, it was state of the art as far as story and graphics back in the day.
I agree That is true the beginning is very borring then it gets exciting then borring then exciting!
