Tip of the century for mics and XP users

Right - a lot of people using XP and trying to use voice comms sounds garbled to everyone else.
Finally a friend told me of a wonderful fix:
+voice_dsound 1
goes in the command line

also as a bit of overkill add the following line to the confg.cfg file in
the half-life/tfc directory:

voice_dsound “1.000000“

Ok get this phreaky bit. I play all my games on '98. However, all my games are installed on XP. I got my voice sounding great through the voice_tweak but it will not work in game. At this point, being garbled would be great!

OK hopefully a stupid question but....you are aware that you need a key defined to talk and must press that key in game right ??

I use BattleCom and can set it to voice activated so when I tried the TFC in game voice I kept forgetting to press the key to talk.

I don't use it anymore because I can't get BC and the TFC chat to coexist. I use BC for all my other games so I turned off the TFC in game chat. Would be nice if it was the problem but somehow I doubt it is that simple. Sorry KRG , had to ask.

Yeah man I have my voice record button set to "V" in game. When I join a game, the consol tells me it's unable to initialize waveIn. It works through the voice_tweak but not in game. Hmmm. makes no sense to me.

I have an all in wonder! The best I can tell is from what I find in my device manager. C-Media PCI Audio Legacy Device. The card is a part of the all in wonder motherboard and can not be interchanged.

well worst case scenerio, you should be able to disable the onboard sound and install a sound card if your that desperate or just want a better soundcard.
