...Of Course...when I need Steam Forums to work...it doesn't...
Now they do...I check the DoD: S forums...and what do I find?

Do not bother using the retail CD-Rom or DVD-Rom that came with your Day of Defeat: Source package.
Some of the CD-Rom and DVD-Rom have bad installations and do go corrupt for many users. |
...Thank you Valve...well...atleast I did that...so I do have DoD: S
...I just need a highspeed net connection to download it... |

Dude,...that sucks. Valve has no mind for the poor dial-up users of the world. My brother is still one of them. Every time there's an update of some kind, he has to wait FOREVER before he can even play. The cable company won't run cable out where he and my parents live ( i had to deal with the dial up for five years). They said they might be able to for like $1000!!! My parents are stubborn and will no way pay that. Their also too far away for DSL. SO they're royally screwed every which way. aaahhh..the advantages of living in the quiet countryside..... _________________

Maybe you can try installing it somewhere and then copy the DoD:S cache files to your original Steam installation and you won't have to download it. _________________

Well..the good news:
1: I'm getting a 40 gig portable HDD tomorrow, from my college course.
2: My College has faster than T1 connection
3: I'll be able to download HL2, DoDS and CSS either tomorrow or Monday...so I WILL GET IT EVENTUALLY!
4: I still have DoD
5: I can play DoD at school and I did today Twas very fast
Bad news:
1:...um...Valve hates dial up users...
2: I don't have highspeed...
Shoot ya guys in a bit...just updating the steam client...shouldn't be too much longer, I'll be on TV3!

Kixx: Yep, I can play it maxed out 1024x768 and I get the same pings on DoDS as DoD 1.3.
Last server I played I got 40-50 and was the 2nd or 3rd best player on there.
No joke...but the players are whiny...one guy was complaining about me killing him in one shot with the Garand. I told him it was a good gun...and proved it by killing someone else with 1 shot right after.
Shut him up fairly quickly.
But people need to play on TV1...I'll be there right now...hopefully people will join... |
