haha..no it doesnt. But unfortunitly, society of the world with its fragmented views tend to think so.......................Once war became more unjust, The view of having army for defence, of ones democracy or ones country then became the excuse for justification...When really war is always igninited by ones greed or vanity..and the even more tragic thing is that war now has become a just, in societies around the world....

Yeah, war is not good. No one should ever have to shoot each other, but sometimes there's just no way to avoid violence. You can't get every country to cooperate, there's just too many conflicting interests...
Anyway, if you can get by without a massive army, then that should be something to be proud of. Those Canadians... _________________

I didn't know the Barret 50 cal was restricted with the Geneva Convention? WHat other use would it be for, other than to be used against personnel?
I know war is never good, but defending what you believe in, and also helping other nations that cannot defend there selves is right up there as well.
Just ask Belguim, Netherlands, France, Italy, and even the UK(although, I wholehearteldy believe that Germany could never had taken the UK if they had invaded), and the many other nations that were under Nazi rule after being invaded by a stronger army, and ruled under tyranny.
Just a few years ago...the mass murder(ethnic cleansing) that was going on in former country of Yugoslavia. The UN stepped in there and help those people, both sides. Hmmm, sounds alot like what happened from 1939 to 1945.
I know alot of people look down on the American people now for trying to "police" the world, especially for there interest in the middle eastern oil fields, and that is a reason we went in there, but we also went in there cause of the invasion of Kuwait, and to help the Kuwaiti people. I know I will get alot of arguments probably for thinking this...but thats ok...thats why we have free speech.
As for the Canadian Military, they have a very proud history. The battles they fought in WWI, WWII, and even the Battalion they sent to Korea have an awesome combat history.
Everyone remember the "Devils Brigade", the 1st Special Forces group comprised of American/ Canadian soldiers. They never surrendered, and never gave an inch of ground.
So, yes, I do believe in having a strong military!!!!! Just my thoughts......
ahh, hell, I love my Canadian cousins maaaaaaaaaaannnn!!!!!
Kixx
PS. My grandfather served with the US 2d Infantry Division, 9th Infantry Regiment in a rifle company and saw action in Northern France and was wounded twice during the Battle of the Bulge. He came back from the war a very different man, he had nightmares for almost the next fifty-one years he was alive , but I remember my father and him talking and he ask him.."If you had to do it all over again, would you?" My grandfather replied "Yes, cause of the suffering he saw in the people from France, and Belguim, the little kids begging in the street cause most were oprhans and of course homeless, hungry, wearing rags....so YES I would do it all over again".
I have to admit that that generation of people during WWII was an extraordinary group of people, there lives we couldn't imagine to live right now. My grandfather when drafted in 1943 was 35 years old, already married for 14 years and had two children, a 13 year old son(my father) and a 2 year old little girl(my Aunt Gail). He had a great job for the times, he supervised a Gov't contracting Printing Office in Washington, DC(which after he recovered from his wounds and was discharged from the army, he spent almost 40 years working for that company).
Could you imagine today...being 35, being drafted to go fight in a war, when you have an established life and might go off and die and never see them again.......I couldn't imagine that today, but I think it was an awesome sacrifice alot of men did during those times...not just in the US, but all over the world during WWII.
OK...NOW I am done ranting!!!! _________________

Having a big and powerful army and not using it is a widely used strategy (think William I). Unfortunately for the US, it is being used.
kixx, high caliber snipers are used for shooting armored vehicles. Theres probably other uses for them, but i don't know them. _________________ R.I.P. Blue |

When I told people I was going to do a parachutist course this summer, they asked me
"Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?"
What they didn't realise was that I was jumping out of a plane owned by the Canadian Forces. |

I'd throw my 2 cents into this but it wouldnt end well... simply put im one of the few sick people who love war, endulge themselves in it.. i even have gone to sleep on several occasions with my computer playing some of the ambient battle sounds that can be found in the DoD directory (along with a few others from movies, games etc.)
As for the .50 caliber sniper rifle...
