Oh I like the look of those models. Looks like it could be fun.

But, I'm concerned about some things in tfc ...

Bunny Hopping - BAD idea... just don't allow it. It's truly lame that someone can GAIN speed by this trick.

Conc jumping - just don't make it so easy. Make it so people actually have to drop the conc on the ground.

Grenade Jumping - limit weapon jumping to demoman and soldier imo.

Scripting - Go over all the commands and seriously considering not allowing them as part of a script or macro. Things like shoot or nade toss shouldn't be scriptable. Those kind of things should be something that a player should have to learn rather than just let a script do it for them.

I loved tfc back in the day but I started hating it after things like the above just became far too common. It destroyed the fun.

All of those are skills that add depth to the game, just because you don't want to learn them or you cant do them doesn't mean they're bad. for what you said about concing, its already harder to hit a hh then a drop conc in tfc. You have to be kidding about nerfing the rocket jump. as for scripting, i agree, that's a problem, but don't make it seem like its only in tfc. its in every game. it will also never go away (or every hard to get rid of) because of seperately run macro programs. These are all core parts of TF gameplay, just because you don't like them doesn't mean that they should be removed.

And mujo, the old TF2 was basically BF2 so they couldn't really use it.

I think he meant that only soldiers and demos should be able to do it.

I didn't say to nerf rocket jumping. I said limit the weapon jumping to the demoman and soldier. That means that only the demoman and soldier can weapon jump.

And it isn't because "I can't do those abilities". They're just lame. Conc jumping totally bypasses fighting. It's TOO easy to do. Just let go at a certain time and you get to jump half way across the map bypassing any sort of defense.

Bunny Hopping causes a HUGE increase to speed. So much increase to speed that a person can cross an open area with a sentry gun and LIVE.

When I played TFC the class I enjoyed the most was The Engineer. But, many of these abilities made me near useless because it came far too easy to simply bypass any sort of defense I could setup. In no way are these abilities adding depth or skill to the game. It's taking away skill. They're making the game boring from a defensive standpoint. Having people just run back and forth capping flags over and over again and just BYPASSING anything that prevents them makes the game boring.

Perhaps that's why I switched to dod. In dod people actually attempt to do defense. One team capturing all the objectives/flags doesn't happen that often in dod. In tfc, teams cap flags 10-20 times a map if not more. Flags get capped so much that people totally ignore defense because offense is TOO easy. That isn't depth. That doesn't make the game fun. But, I guess that's just me

i think junkyard asked what was the chance of seeing this here at the ville...well we will more than likely test it and see how it feels and how it plays and what bugs it has...and if a admin mod can be applied to it...once we figure that out then i would say a very high chance.

i kinda like the look...i always thought of tfc as the silly version to unreal or something like that...so this would seem to fit

LJ I don't want to argue about this anymore, but I do suggest you try joining a HLTV server when a clan match is taking place and you will see that even the best concers and bhoppers can be stopped with a good defense.

Frag, I remember hearing about someone who visited valve a while ago and they saw someone working on a source version of well.

I like the look actually! They look like real FUN characters to mow down!!

At least now for realism, I have my DoD, and for slapstick-cartoonish-concing-rocketjumping-fun, I'll have my TF2!!!

I don't play any game competitively. That means that I play in a pub server atmosphere. That means that you're not going to get hardcore players playing all the time. That means 1 or 2 of these people running around bunny hopping and conc jumping means you might as well quit and join another server.

Joining an HLTV clan match isn't going to change that.

I hope valve has put some time into this game; actually making it a decent game and not just slapped together to try to get a source fortress out before FF does.

As for the other topic in the thread, there are 2 types of TFC players:

Those that can bhop/conc well, these players enjoy doing it and wouldn't be playing this 8 year old game still if it weren't for bhop/conc.

And then's there's those that cannot bhop/conc well and hate it, chances are, these players have never experienced bhopping first hand and do not realise how fun it is.

Like I said, it isn't about not knowing how to do it but about thinking it's lame. To suggest I don't like it because I don't know how is ignorant.

its been in development for I forget how many years, hopefully they did. I do get what you're saying though, they migh have changed thier plans within the last year or so. Valve isn't the type of company to rush a game. I don't think they would rush it just to get out before FF to get a game to a small community. If they really wanted to, they'd just shut down FF because they own TF rights. It looks to me like they're gonna let FF exist to keep the hardcore players happy.
