dod\gameinfo.txt is not a valid format (*error)

I recently had a fresh install of windows, and I had to re d/l dod:s and all steam stuff. I wanted to start DOD:S up to try the new maps and got that error:

dod\gameinfo.txt is not a valid format

I went into my dod:s folder and found the txt file, there's nothing in it, its just an empty text document. I tried deleting it and start dod:s again to re d/l the file and it says the same thing. SHould I just delete dod:s and re d/l it? or is there something i'm missing?

ps. I got this error even before DOD:S could load. So its not an ingame error.

i replaced mine with yours, and it gave me the same error. I went back to look at teh file, and everything was erased

ok, sorry for the stressful rant. I really have been at this for two weeks. i think i got it fixed now. i did however, knock on wood, fix my bsod problem. apparently my nforce4 Forceware Network Access Manager driver doesnt like me. so i uninstalled it. so far so good.
