you can download the freetrail client and supposedly you can subscribe after your free trial is up or maby if you dont have a free trial form a friend you can just subscribe. I'm not sure because i find it odd that you can download the game now and subscribe when they're still selling it in stores.
go here and click the first button and download the dl manager that ign makes for fileplanet, then after its installed click the same button and your dl will start in the manager. It's really nice:
someone from the ville can prolly send you a free trail key.
