So we got talkin about comics the other day in TV3. Talk ranged from different series in comics and who was the best at what.
Just thought I'd open up the topic for a little more discussion instead of limiting it to in game chat.
Myself I've read tons of comics anywhere from the 60's to present day. Ranging from sci-fi, fantasy etc etc.
My favorite would have to be the older Conan comics that were larger than standard ones now. They were black and white but they were faboulously detailed.
And I'm kind of fond now of the newer comics with the diff paper which seems smoother to the feel. X-Men used to be my favorite, specifically the "Age of Apocolypse" and a bit of the "Onslaught" series.
Anyone else? _________________

im a HUGE HUGE HUGE Spiderman fan...i think that spiderman/peter parker identities are what makes it such an awesome comic. also he isn't really good cause of how his uncle ben died. he's the most human of the superheroes i would say
when my parents took my bro to the library when i was a kid, i used to sit there for hours on end just reading spiderman comics
oh yeah i also liked Daredevil...but Ben Affleck kinda killed him for me...I HATE U BEN AFFLECK!!!!
Mighty Mouse comics were also pretty sweet
but u always gotta love the classics...Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Sandman, Flash
Superman comics kinda sucked in the beginning tho cause for like 15 yrs or so he didnt even have kryptonite so he was just INVINCIBLE...but that just got old so they added a weakness and that spiced things up a little
Wonderwoman was just hot tho... _________________

I grew up in Northern Ireland so I read all the British magazines and comics!
I loved Warlord (world war II comic - DoD reminds me a lot of this comic!), 2000AD (I was a HUGE fan of this sciFi mag - it spawned Judge Dread, Strontium Dog and loads of others....!), and the usual classic British fair...Beano, Dandy, Beezer, The Broons, Oor Wullie and hopefully none of them will ever be made into films!
For those of you interested...Strontium Dog was a mutant bounty hunter with special powers...and hated by society (familiar superhero theme!) No film (probably because the storylines are too bizarre) but there is an audio play...
See some strips here...http://www.bbc.co.uk/cult/comics/2000adstrips/strontiumdog/strontiumdog01.shtml

I'm a self-proclaimed bat-freak.
I got into the series more than any other comic I collected (some spiderman, the standards....) oddly enough though I got into batman b/c I became fascinated with the character of The Joker and my love of Batman comics just spread from there.
I do have several graphic novels, some Gaiman, etc...
oh...and I have all the Marvel "What The...?" comics...I love those things. _________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for freedom of thought, which they avoid."

The only two comics I ever got into was Batman and the X-Men.
Edit: Aeon Flux was another one I got into when MadMax and MTV used to be useful back in the days. Now I just watch the boxed sets
Superman never appealed to me because I always thought he was just gay. _________________

Because he's not human.
There's nothing to be impressed about someone who has supernatural powers from another planet. _________________

superman has an alter ego that is human...and it's quite interesting how superman depicts his human counterpart. Clark is a pathetic person that lets people run all over him and is weak beyond comparison. _________________

Was never a big comic fan. I guess the only ones I ever read were "Thor" and "The Punisher". _________________

lol
I've had this arguement before, but I end up winning.
The arguement of Clark Kent and Superman are two different people. To say Kent lets people walk on him is irrelevant if he was trying to keep his identity a secret yet if he went near some Kryptonite he was as weak as a newborn child. That never appealed to me and just contradicted his super powers. The entire story based on the Earth's sun was horrible. Yes only little kids with little minds would buy that.
I loved Batman because as a child when Bruce Wayne witnessed his parents death, and overcame his fear by becoming what he fears. He lived on that moment of his parents death and from then on he would become the Dark Knight fighting crime and psychopathic villians in Gotham.
Batman was a human. Superman is an alien. The "Man of Steel" The only person who would get excited about the Man of Steel are men with big egos. _________________
