HLTV Demos Available

For those who wanted to make a video on The Ville Cup 2006, or who just want to watch the matches, all of the demos recorded by HLTV are available. This includes every match from week 2 to the finals (HLTV was not running during the first week).

Each demo file is named using a format to describe the contents. The format is as follows:
tvc_<Week #>_<Team 1>-<Team 2>_<Round #>-<Timestamp>-<Map Name>.dem. This should make it easy to figure out what is in each demo before watching it. You can rename them to make it easier to deal with.

There are two packages, one that includes both the matches and extra footage, and one with just the matches. They are in .tar.gz format and can be extracted using WinRAR or similar program.

Instructions:
1) Extract all of the contents of the archive and move all of the demos to the dod folder (i.e. C:/Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/<account>/Day of Defeat/dod).
2) Enter DoD and enter this command into the console: viewdemo <demoname>
Hint: An easy way to get a list of demos to show up in game: Type viewdemo in the console and click the button on the far left in the window that comes up. There should now be a list of demos that you can use in the command above.
3) If you need help turning the demos into a movie, I can offer some hints or tips. I've made one before so I know the basics of what is involved. Just PM me and I'll help you out.

HLTV/Demo Viewing Problems:
1) Voices on the HLTV demos will most likely not work properly. They will sound like they are in fast forward because they only support the default HL codecs, not the better ones on the server. Anyway, to get rid of the strange noises, use voice_enable 0 in the console.
2) The game might crash if you try to skip ahead too far on the seek bar. The best thing to do is to wait for it to fully load and then use the fast forward button. (Press the console key to see the controls.)
3) HLTV demos are not 100% accurate. The scoreboard may not register everything properly and hit registration may be off slightly.

Anyway, I hope these demos are useful to some people.

I got the HLTV server to play back these demos. So if you ever get bored or something, you can watch TVC reruns.

I'm currently 1 min 12 secs into a 5 min 30sec video. I've got a set amount of time for each match there's footage of (none of the extra stuff). There's a bit extra for the opening and the final, and any unused seconds from matches go towards the final. If anyone has any particular incidents worth putting in do mention them because I only tend to go through a demo twice at most to see what's worth grabbing, and may miss something.

I have to say major kudos to Fuse for getting a grenade into the window of the allied sniper house from the bridge on kalt (Week2: BLS vs TUFF round 2)

I think it was a forfeited game between BLS and S8 on Saints, but it was also worth watching Fuse dominate both bridges from the dbl windows as Allies sniper. think he had some nice quick shot streaks in there too.
Also that same match, someone threw a nice nade from under the main bridge into those very same dbl windows to an unsuspecting Fuse[who was most likely zoomed]as you see him go boom. might consider checking it out greebo.

same goes for the tag team dou of oXo & ganja on strum. think they both put up 50 something kills and quite few caps combined...maybe have them split screened.

I'll look out for those, thanks! (I'm still on Kalt maps for now, I hope the forfeited one is in the extras because I only have 1 round for that map...maybe it was that round - I'll look soon).

Thats probably one of the rounds that we just threw a bunch of people together and only played one round do to the fact that there wasn't enough players or they didn't realize there was a match that night.

So it could be one of the makeup matches.

I think Stutter has all the info if not I'm sure I can find it in the forums...lol Getting to old can't remember that far back
