I think I definitely qualify as a HPB, since my average ping is well in the 300+ range. That scenario with the mirvs happens to me all the time, except with different grenades since I tend to play different classes. That and the sniping thing too...it's so annoying. I think what anoys me most is that sometimes my computer will run great and almost act like LPB, but then it will get a lag spike and be 10x worse than a HPB, which really throws my timing off. Anyway, to all those good HPBs, I salute you, but not to take anything away from the good LPBs either |

I have to agree with some of the things that are said about 56k. I have it and I hate it. A lot of the times I have connection problems and by the time I recover from it, I am dead. I also think I have a problem with framerate lag because if I test to see if my video is working in d3d or opengl mode, my ping goes from the normal 400 - 700 down to a "playable" 200-400. The unfortunate thing is that I can't get my video to work correctly at all. Either I have missing textures or opengl freezes at the loading... screen and I have to ctl - alt - delete, and this normally brings up green vertical lines at the top of my screen. I have pretty much given up on hardware acceleration and just decided to stick to software and that bad 400 - 700 ping. As a side note, I have found that one of the best classes for high pingers is the engineer class.

I enjoy being an lpb but the hpb does have one hell of an advantage. When I see you and shoot at you, you arent actually there. Yes thats what I said. The only time I can hit the lagger is if he stays still or I send the ole grenade his way. If it's a one on one shotgun fight, I just have to move on cuz i cant hit him. I'm sure if I just practice I could do better, but sometimes their lag is ridiculous.
Once I was playing two fort and sniping. this guy would kick my ass and I would never see him. I figured out that by the time he fired on his computer and ran away, I would just move out into the open. Not seeing anything I slowly kept moving and bang, dead. I'm not sure I was even able to hit him.
Anyway, I've played laggy and I've played smooth, The only thing that counts is skill. Doesn't matter how your ping is, if you can play you can play.

LOL, I killed someone with a bad ping one night on warpath. He was running away and I shot at him just before he was going around the corner into the hallway. Well I thought I had missed cause I saw him run into the hall. To my suprise I see I killed him and he is laying about 10 feet into the hall.

Oh the flashbacks, oh the flashbacks!
The worst thing is that you can't look around and see who killed you, you're 10 back in the hallway...

| Isn't there a server setting for ping compensation so that everyone can be about the same in game? |
