Half-Life OpenGL driver

so in the course of my neverending battle to fix my computer and video card, i came across some posts discussing the possibility that Steam uses an outdated OpenGL.dll

i thought hmmm... sure... i've tried everything else, i'll check into that.

so i open my half-life/gldrv folder according the info i found, and inside the folder... there is NO OpenGL.dll
but there is a 3dfxgl.dll

so i copied the opengl.dll from the windows/system32 folder

my question is... how the hell did i not have an opengl.dll?

and the answer to your question is, yes, in Steam in the Video settings, I have it set to OpenGL and not 3dfx

i am confused! is putting this file in that folder going to solve all of my problems?

www.opengl.com has some info and downloads. That might help if you haven't been there already.

I use opengl to run dod. and my folder contains 3dfxgl.dll

It looks like to me that file is the opengl file, just made by 3dfx.

If that 3dfx file wasn't right dod wouldn't even launch.

What are your specs? Have you updated your graphics drivers?
