|
|
Well here i am again. I just finished installing all my games and stuff and i get ready to play some 1.3 DoD with my fellow villuns, thing is, i cant play. I can get into the server fine. From the list the ping is normal, as usual. but as soon as i get ingame, my ping JUMPS, and i LAG out, and TIME out. Warning: Connection Problem. My choke is around 3-10, and my loss is around 80!!!
I looked under Steam Support and tried what they asked...nothing works. I've tried it with all my anti spyware, anti virus, and firewall turned off. and also with Xfire turned off...I'm not talking about just lag here, its the freezing kind, where you cant move at all, and it times you out of the server and kickes you off. the kind of lag where you cant play the game at all
I'm just not sure where to go from here...my internet seems to be working fine. I can load web pages fine. I can download stuff fine. Its only in STEAM games, i tried different servers, so i know its not the Ville. I tried DOD:S, and CS:S. so i know its not limited to just DoD. HELP ME! _________________

do you get an error message after you get kicked? (on screen or in the console)
-edit-
if the proper ports on his router wouldn't be open, he wouldn't be able to join the game neither. _________________ PROUD TO BE A MEMBER OF =US-V= & VILLE $UPPORTER |

nope, no errors, just: Timed out error
i just joined, and it was skippiing, sometimes lagging out, sometimes not. it'd be fine fora bit, then i'd move and it'd lag out again. _________________

HAve you ran a tracert to the server ? I have ran into alot of bad hops as of late to TV4. It seems that there is a bad hop right outside the server as it is the 2nd hop from the server. _________________ <eVa>Simpleman-V$=<RIP> |

well first off, you've exceeded your tech support quota this month!

But we're generous folks here soooo.... are your problems similar to what JTH had a few days back? Reference:

If so, then maybe your gateway settings are off? |

WEll....I'm still having problems. Internet seems to be fine while surfing the net. Whenever i play a online game though, my lag just starts shooting through the roof. Not just in DoD anymore. Now its in ALL my games. I've played with my rates, used TCP optimizers, I'm not sure what else to do. Should i call Road Runner (cable company) and tell then i'm getting a crappy connection while playing games but its fine while surfing ? lol. Im really at loss here. _________________

I had a similar problem last year. It was from running zone alarm with DOD.
I removed it and the problem went away. _________________

Yeah, I used to use Zone Alarm. Now the only Firewall I use is Windows Firewall.
I think I may have it figured out. I rebooted my cable modem and my in game connection seems to be 80% better. So we'll see where things go from here. _________________

might be that windows firewall causing the trouble.
and zone alarm, that has to be the crappiest firewall out there.
it cut my connection back from 600kb/s download to 100 max.
shutting zonealarm down wasn't enough, i actually had to uninstall it.
me and the isp tech that was here searched for about 3 hours before we found the problem......
