Multiplayer isn't Working!

I can't play on TFC. When I go onto Multiplayer and click on Internet Games, it says that my version is out of date. I tried updating it, but all the sites it gave me didn't work. This wouldn't be a problem except that I can't play at all. I don't know if it is because it is out of date or not, but all the game names come up grey. When I try to join a game it says that I can't join a game with a different protocol. What is happening? Do I need to update something before I can play again? I am downloading the new patch from your site right now. Will this fix it?

I downloaded the patch, and it still doesn't work. Is there something I need to do with the patch, or does it just have to be on my computer?

Well hopefully you installed the patch after downloading it.

But when you start it get the revision number that shows up. Also do you have HL or the counterstrike edition.

Give a little more info so that we can help you..

Monk, you need to install the patch. You have to execute the file you downloaded. It should be named 11071108.exe which upgrades you from version 1.1.0.7 to 1.1.0.8. Find the file in explorer and double click on it. It will start up an installation wizard that guides you.

Forgive me if this is to basic, but what you need to do is double click the file that you downloaded. From there just follow instructions and keep pressing Next until the patch is installed

Hey, check the bottom right corner of your sceen, where the version info is. I bet it says 1.0.0.5. I have the exact same problem, when I installed the patch, it REVERTED my HL.

I had problems with the patch too. After a couple of trys I just said forget it and did a complete reinstall of HL and then installed the full 77MB patch. That did the trick.

I have the Counter Strike version. I downloaded the patch but haven't yet installed it. I assume it should work after I do that right?

Damn!!! Since I have the Counter Strike version I probably have to download the Counter Strike patch!!! I feel like such an idiot. Thanks for all the help guys.
