I have mastered the art of keyboard shortcuts and maneuvering around on my register and am now able to access my beloved internet WHILE at work. Who knew that a register that is supposed to only have POS functions could get online? and that all I needed to do was finnagle my way onto the start menu, then log into the store inventory, then merely tab my way over to help, which pulls up a beautiful, though IE, internet. I then merely tab my way over to the address bar, type in www.theville.org, and I am blissfully on my way to the ville. Tabbing my way over to log in, I am surprised that it took me this long to figure this out. Why hadn't I tried before? Why had it taken me this long? Why was I such a good little cashier prior to this revelation? Why did it take until the day District management was in for me to attempt it? Now I am only an Alt + tab away from my POS safety screen, and an Alt + tab to my freedom. It isn't my fault they put me on the back register, unattended, with no customers, they were asking for it. Now if ever in danger of discovery, I merely Alt + F4 my way to safety. I can even sign into AIM via AIM Express, though I cannot start a conversation as I cannot tab onto the names or even arrow down to them, I am available!
Yes, I am bored. While writing this I have had still no customers, and only one incidence of alt + tabbing. This is how slow this register is.
From 10-11am = 2 customers.... TWO. 11-12 = 8 customers, still slow. but from 12-now = 2, no wait, make that 3 now. 13 customers all together. So much for busy... It is a Friday, no?
Did I mention that this is my second to last shift on registers? no? well, I finally have gotten promoted! weeee! but what will I do without my sweet POS register..... well, at least I will get to work for my paycheck, which is better _________________

anything other than registers is a promotion, trust me. I never even applied for stupid registers. Hate them. With a passion. You get the stupidest customers who think they know everything, and think you are a stupid shmuck since you work registers, and then lecture you... and you have to listen to it.
anyways, I am now in the back warehouse, get to be part of merchandising now. working on getting A+ certified so I can be a geek..... for now at least Still don't know what I want to do in the future... such a bum I am _________________

Hey, I went to college and got a degree and now I teach at a community college. I say this because I actually get PAID to sit in my office and surf the web. It is called "office hours"--and for some reason, students never seem to visit my office. As an added bonus, I have a fancy new computer with a gigabit network backbone connected directly to the web via T3. Oh, I do use some of my time for research and such, and I teach a couple online courses, but I also discover way too many cool sites...
...and I have The Ville bookmarked. _________________
