Well, I just created a new Autoexec file, and was playin with direct3D, it certainly did end that lag. The only thing is that it is not quite as smooth as openGL, but I can't attribute to my machine, seeing as how I was playing on some random servers. I didn't freeze, so that is a plus.
Also, Frag, When it does freeze, I get nothin. I can't ctl+alt+del or anything. It just freezes. HARD.
Oh well, hopefully tonight I will enjoy some uninterrupted fragging for the first time in several weeks.
See you all tonight gentlemen.
I may even make an appearance on TV1 to visit frag with my sniper rifle

GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AUGH!
Just got done playing on TV5 for about 15 minutes or so, in Direct 3d at 800x600 resolution, and guess what?! It froze...FROZE!!!!!! GRRRARRRRARARRARAR!!!
I want to punch my computer, but I know that won't help. I want to throw it out the window, but our screens are screwed in. GRRRRRRRRRRR...I really don't want to run with software support, because that is basically wasting my 32 MB video card. (Riva TNT2 by the way, nvidia)

You probably have already done this but I have to ask.
Have you remembered to get the latest drivers for your video and sound card. How about the latest directx stuff from MS ? I apologize but I don't remember the OS.
If it is XP some HardWare isn't completely supported as yet, check out any bug reports. I've had one friend who had to buy a different sound card because things kept freezing up. After he got the Audigy Gamer, no more problems.
ME has memory leak and will freeze up like you say. Might consider some type of memory recovery program if that is what you are running.
Win2k ?, I have no idea what could be wrong. |

One other thing to check and then I'm all out of ideas. Have you looked to see you IRQ sharing devices. I know on my Motherboard its a bad idea to have any PCI card installed next to your graphics card cause this MB has issues. Maybe something is conflicting with your Graphics Card or Sound Card and may be as easy as moving the cards in the computer.

I am runnin Win2k, and I would have the latest drivers for my vid card, but those are the failed Detonator drivers. I tried them, but that didn't really help. I have the latest direct X stuff, it came with my new soundcard.
Blown, I don't think that IRQ issues are my problem. Half-Life worked fine when I had win98 on my system. All my troubles happened when I put 2k on.
Unfortunately, I am beginning to think that win2k, Half-Life, and my video card just don't get along. My last option is to get a hold of Partition Magic, and make myself a nice small partition just for Half-Life, and slap Win98 on there.
Ah well. I think until I get everything straightened out, I am gonna suck it up and run in Software support. grrrrr
