|
|
Well I built my first Puta' for my step brothers with a few minor problems, but now that i have everything in and together I'm having aproblem installing OS. I have a "special" copy of WinXP that I got from an undisclosed person and I have used it before on my old computer. I followed the instructions from the HD manual and when I put the WinXP disc in the drive and press space bar like it says it just shows a little blinking thing in the top left corner. Is it just a bad CD or something else?
EDIT: And I also get the "NTLDR is missing" message too so I know its doing what it's supposed to doing. It's just not reading the disc, but it read the Maxtor CD so it's not the Disc Drive I dont think...
Any ideas? _________________

had that problem with mine too but then i split my partitions up so that i installed windows on a small (think 4 gig) partition and had it in FAT32 format rather then NTFS... worked ok after that ... not the best method but it worked for me. _________________

that wont work...you can only use old re used copies of windows 2k nowadys...even if you were to get it installed, he would be unable to get any windows updates at all... and believe it ornot...they actually do do stuff ...i tried it without them...and it was a living hell |

Make sure you have the cdrom drive as the 1st boot device. Fire it up, reformat and install. After the first restart, go back into your bios and set the hd as the 1st boot device and continue on. Although, you have probably figured something out, since this was 4 days old. _________________ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - |

It must have been a bad CD cuz i put in his GFs recovery disc and that worked but now we need a Serial # so it looks like we have to buy a legit copy of XP. Oh well not my money. Besides Newegg has it for $80, not too bad. _________________
