What's the best way to clean an Intel P4 w/HT fan (standard Intel fan) and heatsink (standard as well)?
I've been using canned air, and that did fine for about a day, but the fan still seems to go into overclock speeds after a day or two. And from what I can tell, the canned air isn't getting all the dust out of the heatsink.
So any suggestions?
Also, on a seperate note, where is the cheapest place I can find a Thermaltake Hardcano 9? I'd consider getting the Hardcano 13, but I've heard mixed reviews of it and I don't really need a card reader at the moment.

I bring my leaf blower in about once a month and blowout all of the computers with it. It seems to work well....LOL I take both sides off and have it...lol I know seems a little extreme, but it does the job quite well.

I use the same thing. On occasion I have a small brush, kinda like a toothbrush, and make sure I get all the dirt out.
That reminds me that my machine is due for another cleansing.

compressed air and a vacuum are what I use for cleaning inside PCs as well as HS/Fs.
As for the best price on the Thermaltake, check out www.pricewatch.com or www.pricescan.com.

Poo. Being in a high-rise apartment in Chicago doesn't really allow for me to have an air compressor or a leaf blower (as much fun as it would be to haul a huge leaf blower in an area where no one cares about leaves). Guess I'll have to see if I can manage to CAREFULLY remove the whole CPU unit and clean it that way. Otherwise, it's going to just have to suffer for a few more months when I can lug the whole thing home and use the air compressor there. Hopefully, replacing the Hardcano 9 will help immensely, because I've been thinking that might be at least 50% of the problem. If nothing else, I think I'll look into a small, precision vacuum for that area. Any suggestions in that department?
Thanks, but I contacted Thermaltake directly before starting this thread, and I was emailed back just a few hours later. Besides, the best I could find a Hardcano 9 was for about $20, but that was from England and the cheapest in the US I saw was around $30. Just finished going through Thermaltake's RMA system to get both a replacement Hardcano 9 underway as well as a replacement for the front "Thermaltake" blue LED panel. Just gotta send them only the parts that need the replacing and should have it shortly thereafter. I was actually surprised at how well their customer service has been thus far. Here's to hoping everything continues to go well.
