i really enjoyed that movie, saw it a couple of days ago. i knew that since it was a remake, they would change a couple of things here and there, tho i was primarily concerned about whether or not they would alter the ending. i was really glad they kept the original one

With it being 1938, I don't think the Jews found much refuge in Poland.

Not to make this thread too controversial, but Tom Cruise is a scientologist and that reason alone should be enough to not want to give yer money to him. (I still chose to see the movie because it seemed like it would be a good one and my buddies were going.)

I guess i am the only here that honestly can say i hated this movie...

SPOILERS DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU DON't CARE or YOU HAVE SEEN THE FLICK!!!! I AM WARNING YOU!!!! The body of my message is in INVISO POST...scroll over it to read

--Are you going to tell me that Tom Cruise's family is the only one out of the billions who were killed to not only make it through the conflict not hurt, keep their brownstone apt. without a scratch and all the windows, and some how get to reunite the american atomic family...yeah no...come on Steven S. you are better than that.

--the son should have died..did you see the devestation that the ships were doing yeah sure he made it and how the bloody hell did he make it to boston yeah okay.

--the ending is gotten to way to quickly the pacing is all wrong...the movie goes a slow build----FAST FAST FAST---then dead stop with Tim Robins---then the end...come on get the pacing right Steven. I know he was following the book but even the ending in the book is lame.

--Tim Robins should have not been in the film. His part was silly, contrived, and destroyed all pacing. Sure if they had built up the angle more where he was a pedophile or perhaps someone who wanted to kill Tom Cruise and his daughter or someone you just couldn't trust but turned out to be a hero and you actually cared then it would have been better...but all we get is a man who is all talk and when push comes to shove he is a coward.

Just a few of my complaints.

According to the ACTUAL book written by H.G. Wells, the monsters died because when they began to consume the humans, they got the diseases the humans had, and the diseases killed them. What ever happened in the movie(which i wont be going to see), I dont know, but that's how it happened in the book.

the book was written in 1895, then they had the radio broad cast in 1938 that alot of people freaked out and thought it was real news. then the first movie was made in 1953. from waht i remember of watching it years ago, the first movie was stayed to the book, but i highly doubt the new one does, considering it is placed in modern times where we can just nuke them.
