Hey guys, I have a big problem here. I have been playing CS and not playing TFC as much. But recently when I was about to log on to Ville 1 to play, I was told by the server that "My system has been modified, and need to change it back in order to play on that server." Then my computer pretty much frozed and can't do nothing except hearing other people play
Now, of course, I didn't install any cheats. I have recently tried to upgrade my OS from Win ME to Win XP. I didn't like XP and so changed it back. It is suppose to change it back completely as before. So I don't think my computer is "modified." Also, I was running cheating-death at the time. Cheating-death is a program that prevents you from cheating on CS. This is all the difference that was made.
Please, Rob or anybody, tell me how I can fix this situation. |

So let me get this straight. . . you went from a steaming pile of dog droppings to XPialadocious and back to a steaming pile of dog droppings? Hmmm. . .your problem is probably the fact that ME is a steaming pile of dog droppings. It's the only operating system I have ever had a HD crash on.
Switching back and forth between operating systems like that is bound to cause some serious issues with any programs. I think you are headed for the dreaded. . . .FULL REINSTALL Don't go back to ME! Go back to 98 before you go back to ME! Save yourself the pain!

I've got ME on half of my HD, and it hasn't crashed in about 3 days now...
I just wish it wasn't the half that TFC ran well on...

I partitioned my HD 20g for'98 and 20g for XP. It's the smoothest running system I have ever had, seriously. Half-Life has always run excellent on '98! I feel for those of you stuck with winME os. You know it's still an incomplete OS? Then again, has microsoft ever put out anything that was complete? Omega, since you're half way there, you should drop ME and go for the XP/98 partition. Hope it works out for ya though.

Maybe, I should just reinstall??? But, what should I reinstall? Half-Life or Window?
Well, I didn't like XP because of all those explanations and fancy mumble jumbo. I know it's more stable the ME, but I am used to ME. ME is actually pretty good. |

I have ME. I don't have many problems with it... i mean, it crashes constantly, but, all that i've seen is no better save XP, and, i think i'll pass on fisher price my first Windows, thank you very much. Hey, it's an upgrade from my old 3.1 i had till sometime last summer, that's for sure.

Guys you can easily change xp's layout to the usual "classic" style.

...Oh. Whoops. My friend has it and he couldn't figure out how. I just didn't like the blue, orange and green bubbly windows.

To change XP to classic just click Start then right click anywhere on the open area of the menu. It will then give you the option to change styles. I'm not convinced that XP is better than Win2K yet. In my experience, it seems to have alot of problems on networks. Let's see what the next 3-4 service packs do. |

The only problem I have with the Milliennium
Edition is that it constantly freezes but when I play HL games or any other game it's working fine!
But XP looks like it's fruity!!

LOL!
XP is actually pretty wonderful IMH (yeah, right!) O. It is great for people who love tweaking, troubleshooting, etc. And yes, for those resistant to change, there is the classic mode. Quite frankly, I think that XP is the most user friendly OS yet. We have it on two of our three puters. And the only reason we are not rushing out to buy XP for the other one is that we use it as a HL server and Win 98 suits that function just fine.

Hoax, you are correct. XP is really designed for the user. I don't think it's better than win2k pro but it is a good OS. Beats the crap out of winME! The best out there right from MS has to be the classic 98, Win2k pro, and XP pro.

Did you reinstall HL yet? I guess I'd try that, but back up all of your maps and other TFC files.
