I recently bought Star Wars Galaxies and the minimum RAM requirement is 1024 MB. I thought it was overexaggerating. I need more RAM. I currently have 512 MB PC2700 184-pin. Since I already have 1 stick of PC2700 should I go ahead and buy another stick of PC2700? What brand? _________________

If you decide to buy a faster RAM, pc3200, then it will only run as fast as your slowest chip. So if you have 2700 in there now the 3200 will only run as fast as the 2700. If you buy the faster RAM and remove the older RAM then it will work fine at the faster rate. _________________

Wow, I don't run that low on anything I play and I have a 9800pro.
If you are only running 512MB RAM then adding more is definately needed. I can't say if it will help your fps but it will help everything else run a hell of a lot smoother and quicker _________________

You deff have a prob. Even with 512m, my frame rate was 60-65fps.
When I bumped it up to 1gig, I avg. 73-78fps.
Get PC3200, if your MB will handle DDR, get two identicle sticks of 512, or even better 1gig.
Something tells me that the frame rate prob is something else, not memory, processor or 6600. Just for the hell of it, next time while in game, bring up the processes screen (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and click on Performance button. Chk cpu and memory usage and then chk to see how many processes are being used. Also, look to see what applications are running in the background.
Have you reverted back to 'standard' speed on your 6600? Turn off the overclocking, PM me amd let me know the results.

Hmmmm... When I try to open my game configs after signing in. And the error logs tells me nothing. And yes I'm back to stock 6600GT.

Lordy!
After booting up your system, let the pc settle down and then CTRL-ALT-DEL, bring up the task manager, and see how much memory you have available. write it down. Click on Processes, write down how many are running. Are there any Apps running at this time?
Next, I would suggest closing down all the memory-resident programs
you can (instant msgr, etc) before running any games. Have you
run ad-aware and Syybot search & Destroy? If not, do it. Are you running
any antivirus pgms? disable it for now.
Now chk your memory usage and write it down again.
You also need to test your internet conn speed.
Try this link:
http://www.dslreports.com/stest
Follow the instructions and let me know the results.
Next, run the tweak test, and follow the instructions..
Disclaimer! - As with any changes, BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM FIRST!
http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
It may make some suggestions on 'tweaking' your connection,
and I suggest following them, as they made a world
of difference for me.
Just curious, who is your ISP?

I have Charter. It says I have a good connection with ~250 up and ~3 down. I closed a lot of stuff in the back. ie IM and Antispyware. and it seemed to speed up a bit. It may just be lag or just my relative lack of RAM for an MMORPG. It may have also been Fraps. I was using Fraps ( www.Fraps.com ) to see my FPS and it may have been using up a bit of RAM. I'm still going to upgrade to more RAM anyways. _________________

What is your FPS running the video stress test in Counter Strike - Source?
If you haven't done this, bring up Steam, then Counter Strike - Source,
then click on video stress test.
I'm running 1024x768,32bit, and I average about 71-72 fps with the 6600GT.
Under 'normal' WinXP usage, I have about 55 processes running in the background, but when I boot in game-mode, it is down to 20. big difference..

Hmm with everything on default settings (except for water on high and that one thing on 4x) it averages 56 FPS. Res. 1280x1024x32. That's with stock 6600GT 500MHz core 900 MHz Memory.
Strange I found was that the 6600 GT box says 1000 MHz memory but in reality is only 900 MHz. Hmmmmmmm. _________________

Try dropping your res to 1024x768 and run the stress test again.
Let me know..
