alright, is a 1.5Mbps download speed for DSL capable of playing online? or would it be worth it to fork over extra money for 3.0Mbps? how much faster is it in gaming needs? would it affect playability, if so, how much? thanks _________________

That's plenty fast enough. There would be no difference in a 3mb or a 1.5mb download rate in gaming. What is the upload rate? Believe it or not, that will be more important to you. _________________ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

should be playable depending on where the server is and how fast it is. i remember when i first started playing tfc many many years ago i had a 56k and cheap vc that gave me 8-10fps in software mode. *sigh*, those were the days... |

Yeah when I went from 1.5 to 3.0 I didn't notice any difference when my upload went from 128 up to 482 I noticed alot of difference. It let me set my rates higher. My rates had to be set real low when it was at 128 and now I run cl_updaterate at 101 and cl_cmdrate at 101 with no loss . If you can get a better upload it will help just see if they have a 256 up most do now .
If they have SBC in your area it runs about $37.00 a month _________________ <eVa>Simpleman-V$=<RIP> |

I know this has been a week or so since this post started, but I have SBC 128up/1.5down DSL in SE Oklahoma. I get fine frame rate and ping in the 45-75 range on all TV servers--on a home network with 2 other computers sharing the DSL connection.
Oh, and I only pay $25 a month ($30 if I wanted to bump up to 256k/3.0M) _________________
