Theres a pretty good chance that they were not actually from a Villan but in fact were from someone spoofing a Ville return address... Thats the usual way with spam and trojans, either they spoof a return address or they infect a machine and then search it for email addresses that they will send to using the infected persons return address.
Just dont open the attachments, thats my only advice.
Well, also, use a throwaway email address such as a hotmail address, much less chance of getting a virus via that.

yea outlook is not the greatest system to use because when it previews a letter it is practically opening it for you _________________

The emails that were shown in your inbox were from the Ville forum system that only notified you that you have a PM. Unless someone's gotten really good at specifically spoofing those messages, it's pretty unlikely that you got it from those emails. If the Norton warning popped up when you went to the email, I'd guess that either part of Outlook Express is infected, or your system just happened to encounter the virus while you were reading your email. Either way, I find it hard to believe that an email came from a forum PM notice email. _________________ Support wildlife. Throw a party! |
