no, it means that with this new processor can handle over 4GB of ram and the 64bit xp beta.

Why get pentium? Why not AMD? AMD has had theirs out for over a year now, and it's a better processor anyhow (all the testers rate it as better, plus it doesn't burst into flames when you turn it on). Go buy yourself an AMD processor (for cheaper too), you'll be much happier.

thats against old p4s not this new 64bit one. maby he doesnt want to buy a new mobo to get an AMD.

1000 bucks for the Intel alone, hell you can get a new MB, Ram and a proc of AMD for that.

and, 115W heat, thats still pretty hot.

Interestingly enough, what they say is a P4 64, ISN'T actually 64 bit technology, it merely emulates the 64 bit technology. In otherwords, it's only 32 bit technology, but it "supports" 64 bit operating systems, but doesn't provide the performance that actual 64 bit technology provides

Infact they had a test of the new Nforce4 graphics cards on Doom3, and the newest P64e's ran at 33 FPS, while the Athlon 64's ran at 55 FPS (Nvidia of course said "we shouldn't compair the two brands, blah blah blah).

Not to mention the Athlon 64's dont burst into flames when you power up the computer....
