This one is supposed to follow the book much closer than the original movie. The writer was unhappy with the "Disneyfied" original. Disney almost always "dumbs" down movies for the children. This one done by Tim Burton shove prove to be a bit more creepier like the book.

I do love Gene Wilder in the original but the film did lack that certain level of creepiness that Willy Wonka should have. I am eager to see this version.

lol I saw the preview for this and was like wow......this movie looks strange, then I saw Tim Burton was directing it.

I think his best movies were probably Batman and Batman Returns

Yeah i saw this trailer a few months ago and adored it. I think its going to be a good adaptation of the book and though the disney version is good this one with tim burtons flare will get it some serious attention. The damn song though has been stuck in my head for months as well

Eh, Batman is ok. Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, and Nightmare Before Christmas are his best in my opinion. All awesome and dark!

I'm hella hyped to see the new Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, esspecially since it stars Johnny Depp.... I don't think I've seen a movie with him in it that I've disliked. Plus, with Tim Burton directing, I dont think it could go wrong!

Only thing I worry about is setting my expectations TOO high, then walking away dissapointed.... so....... yep Then again, even if the movie sucks, seeing the oompas sing and dance around should be enough to at least keep me amused.

Yea this looks more like a movie of the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory rather than a remake of Will Wonka. You can see the stuff from the book that wasn't in the first movie in that trailer. Looks great though! Tim Burton is one of my favorite directors ever. From Batman to Edward Scissorhands to Nightmare Before Christmas all great films.

I always thought the original was quite fun, if rather disturbing and psychadelic and drug fueled at times, but otherwise fun.

Having said that - this one looks fantastic!

Wtf? Sorry, but that looks like it's going to be retarded. The original movie, IMO, was much much better than the book. Actually, I was rather disappointed after reading the book (BTW the original movie was not made by disney).

I cannot begin to describe how upset I am with what they have done to Willy Wonka's character. Willy Wonka is like an absentminded genius, a mysterious man who is slightly touched in the head--however his "insanity" only adds to his symbolic wisdom. I find his constant mocking and sarcastic remarks of the children and adults not only humorous but insightful, like something out of an Oscar Wilde play.

Now he looks like a wanna-be goth with a high-pitched voice and acts as though he has no seriousness in his character. I respect Johnny Depp, I think he's a great actor, but I also think Gene Wilder did it right the first time.

Needless to say, I'm going to go see it. But my expectations are nearly as low as those I have reserved for the third Stars Wars movie.

The original was Warner Brothers but I agree with the writer, it was just too "Disneyfied". Like how Disney managed to ruin Mary Poppins. That film was supposed to be far more surreal and creepy but again, Disney dumbed it down for the kids. Again, the writer hated the Disney version. I loath Disney.

Gene Wilder is the only thing that saved the first Wonka film in my opinion. Without him, the film would have been completely horrible.

Some people prefer originals and some enjoy covers/adaptations. The first film was more of an adaptation of the book changed up to suit a child audience more. This new film should be an original by the book and geared more towards everyone, not just children. We'll just have to wait and see how good it really is.

Gene Wilder was undoubtedly the star of the original, but I don't think it fair to give him all the credit. Besides Charlie and Augustus, the main child actors were all fairly good, as were the adults (I also enjoyed the British humor of the teacher and the like). In all actuality, I'd say it was mainly the actors who played Charlie and his family's fault for the movie being fairly bad in the beginning. It starts to really pick up once everyone else gets involved.

I will say this though; The guy's face who plays Mike Teevee in the new trailer is a work of art.

Disney ruins much. Even Jackie Chan couldn't save Around the World in 80 days.

I love the original -- it's not just for children. I like it better now than I did as a kid lololol

Speaking of upcoming movies though, Sin City looks SO FREAKING AWESOME
