So if w is 'double-u', why isn't m 'double-n'? Just wondering what you people think happened while forming our written language.

BECAUSE, they use to be called characters, but people used them to write letters, so it just became for convenient once cartoons were invented. that's totaly BS by btw.

And in french if you say "e"(in english) it's "i"(in french) in fact!

Because in cursive (what we used before print was invented), the w looked like 2 u's connected. The m however consisted of 4 humps and the n 3. To call it a double n would then imply that it contained 6 humps (which it did not).
I win (and stevo B wouldn't be double P... uu looks like a w, nn looks like an m, pp does not look like a b  )
