|
|
Alright I was curious on some of y'alls opinions on this one. Here is the question.
What song(s) do you think the guitar rythem/melody really brought out the entire song, or the guitar in song was just plan awesome?
(I consider the guitar era to be around or from 1970-1990)
Now I am not talking about best guitar player cause that is a whole different thread
here are mine so you guys have an idea....
1. Metallica - Fade To Black
the guitars in this song simply made the whole song. The bringing together of acoustic and electric was a stroke of genius. Plus, the riffs are awesome.
2. Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child Of Mine
gotta love the begining of this song, and the melody Slash plays throughout the song.
3. Poison - Nothing But A Good Time
C.C Deville brings in a great rythem.
4. Poison - Talk Dirty To Me
C.C Deville's rythem and the solo.
(there are more I have in mind, but lets see what y'all think) _________________

I could go on for days. But here is maybe 1% of those that pops up immediately.
In no order,
Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven
Slayer - South of Heaven
Rage - Bulls on Parade
Metallica - Orion
Stevie Ray Vaughn - Little Wing
Korn - Freak on a Leash _________________ Recipient of POTM award

Check out this link
100 top guitar solo
I will go with a personnal choice: "Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam / Solo by Mike McCready
I like also the work of: Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Tom Morello, Eric Clapton, Angus Young, David Gilmour, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Jonny Greenwood, Slash, Kirk Hammet, etc.
Another great solo is "Red House" done by G3 wich is Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson. Just find a good surround system and pump up the volume! _________________

Artist - Joe Satriani
Album - Surfing With The Alien
Song - Always with you, Always with me
The Guitar is the song, you can hear the words from the guitar. This album was done in 87 all the songs are good, no singing all guitar work. Satch Boogie is another off the same album.
Here are some excerpts from the album, you need to hear the whole song. http://www.satriani.com/2004/discography/Surfing_With_The_Alien/
Like KRG said there are lots, this came to mind first. _________________

WTF? You serious Clark?
In that case I would like to add the guitar part from Britney Spears "Toxic".
Here is an unbelievable acustic player if anyone is interested. Monte Montgomery, http://www.montemontgomery.com/default.htm, if you can find the song, or video, for "When Will I" you might be blown away.
I have it somehwere, so I might post it. He has played on Austin City Limits (anyone else get that?), and is bigger in TX than anywhere else. _________________
