it seems really stupid...is it just a quick boost at the expense of 15 armor? because if thats all then it is the dumbest add on ever

One word: Cap Machine

You can easily zoom by most base defenses with this mean mofo. (although you might have a bit of trouble getting past the lvl 3 sgs)
I capped 3 times in less than 5 minutes on epicenter the other night. It's some really usefull shit.
