I need to find a fix for my wireless connection aside from not using it. My ping is fantastic usually in the 30-60 range. BUT!!!!! I have no other choice than using a linksys wireless router to connect to my linksys USB adapter. Any help would be most greatly appreciated. :o |

amen to that. linksys is generally pretty slow and not good. I know rANCOR hUNTER used the usb adapter at our house for a while and was fine with it, but when I tried it was terrible. As for wireless, I have a G card in my laptop, and the linksys B router. They seem to hate one another and never seem to work. Maybe it is linksys just sucking, but I haven't come up with a fix for it yet either. I feel your pain. |

ive never had an issue with my ping getting worse by using wireless. i get 2ms to my router right now via wireless, so that would only be 2ms total to get out of my netwok, which doesnt make a difference in dod. maybe there is alot of metal or distance or something between you and your router so you have bad connection and are dropping alot of packets. try putting those linksys big antennas on your router, or if you have a newer model, check out those 'aftermarket' firmware that can boost your signal 3x. if you can(for a short period of time) run the router closer to you to see if that makes a difference. if that solves the issue, there ya go. if not. well, maybe disable wep? that could be it. |

Anything USB in a network/broadband setup is not a good way to go. _________________ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - |

i got a d-link extreme G wireless router with a signal booster. the only bad thing is when my cordless phone rings (its also 2.4ghz) it cuts off my router signal. on the linksys it didnt with the signal booster. its only a shot lag in game, you are still connected and you see everyone else moving but you don't then its fine. other then the phone problem, its never been bad. _________________ R.I.P. I am also using a signal booster and am having the same prob Mike just described. When I’m playing everything will just stop for me and then start again a few seconds later. Cmon has seen it happen before he sees me running and then just stop while everyone else is still moving. I have a pci wireless card so I will give that a try and see if it helps. Thanks to everyone for the advice. |
