I have one of those infa red mouses at my moms. It sucks. It will suddenly spaz out and start spinning me around and circles. This happens mostly when going upt he spiral on 2fort. It pisses me off.

New optical goggles. They scan your retina and move towards the direction you look. You can also fire and toss grandes using different blink patterns. Very cool, been using them for several weeks now.

I have had the same problem with two optical mice, a Microsoft one and a Logitech one. Other than that, they both work nice, and certainly better than any ball mouse I have used.

*edit: there is in fact an 'h' in Logitech

I used to use a Logitech mouseman marble (thumb operated trackball). It was fine for just about all applications, and uses hardly any desk space. However I then got an optical mouse and suddenly I was able to snipe! A trackball can't match the precision of a normal mouse, IMO.

Another vote for the ubiquitous Logitech optical mouse. Super smooth, but I wish it had more than two buttons. The mice with extra buttons always seem to force my hand into an uncomfortable position.

I use a Microsoft Intellipoint. It was a bit cumbersome at first because my other one fit my lil hand oh so nicely. But I like the thumb controlled ball (which by the way, glows so nicely - red - my fave team color) and the fact that it has 4 buttons and a wheel. I have my 'nades set to the extra two buttons.

I tried the double optical mouse and hated it (not enough buttons). But I guess it comes down to what is comfortable for you and what you need.

I've got the plain old Optical mouse from Microsoft, and it rules. No extra buttons to push on accident. For the other hand, I sometimes use my Nostromo gamepad. It's pretty cool, and you can map all sorts of buttons to it too.
