So, I like the maps in the rotation on TVI. I like them alot. I would be perfectly happy in the rotation remained the way it was until DoD:S comes.

I think a neat strategy would be to essentially DOUBLE the size of the rotation, but keep some popular maps in both halves. So, Avalanche, Donner, and Saints (or whichever maps statistically have the most people) would be played twice as often as all the other maps in the rotation.
In my scheme, a rotation might look like this:
Avalanche
Sturm
Donner
Flash
Saints
Avalanche
Anzio
Donner
Kalt
Saints
The italicized maps could even change on a weekly or monthly basis. We could see some Switch, Jagd, Glider, Flugplatz, Krafstoff, even (God forbid) Charlie, etc. Each month/week we could have a forum vote to pick the "other" maps, or uses stats from TV IV to see which maps were most popular.

I'm sure you somewhat appreciate the complexity of Anzio, with it's ability to create spawn camping and the probability that an admin won't be on when it happens. To put it in the regular rotation at all is risky, but doubling it's frequency... I wouldn't want that and I'm pretty sure the admins certainly wouldn't. (As it was discussed in a thread that we recently sacrificed to the computer gods.)

I agree, but I think things should be done largely democratically if the admins decide to go with this scheme. Of course, that means they would have control over the candidates that make the ballot. _________________ -EvilGenius V$^PK

Charlie is the most awesome map ever -- well, almost...
I never even play Axis on it anymore, not any fun.
I like it, but I miss the Para maps (which would be good to put in
rotation in place of more unpopular maps, such as Sturm.)
Switch Anzio to a 'popular' map.
(And if you're complaining about 'spawn' camping, go home and cry
to mommy, because there are more than one way out of spawn.)
The rest of the maps seem ok.
Once we get the lag issues set, it'll be sweetness + 2.
(Because it sucks playing Sturm and Saints back to back
every freakin time I log on TV1 =( ) _________________ Spawn camper since: Dod Beta 1.0

Anzio seems to encourage spawn exit camping though, which is a pain for the admins who want to play. They dont want to spend the map kicking/banning people for spawn camping.
Also, charlie is a GOOD MAP. You need teamwork to win as axis, which makes it difficult and makes people hate it. Allies can win easy if all the axis do is snipe/mg the beach. |

Not any fun... and still awesome for half the player I guess!?
And Charlie is also a spawn camping heaven like Anzio.

This is why I hate Charlie so much, most of the time ¾ of the Axis players don't know what to do. They don't understand how to defend the objective and that can be really annoying sometimes. To be honest, I camp most of the time in Charlie, wich is not my style of play. _________________

Charlie is bad because the average pubber does not want to work as a team. Its ends up being who can camp the best.
Anzio would be awesome to have back in the rotation. It was vote to anzio today on TV1 and no one really had the chance to spawn camp. If flash was taken out of the rotation that would be awesome because its just a bad map with so many people in it and with the limits as high as they are. Sturm isn't very good either because its almost impossible to move up beyond the middle, or beyond the 2nd flag. Its just the same people camping the same spots and no fun. It rewards camping. This is just me ol' opinion though. |

I think Sturm is getting old. I like the map and all but if I were to vote to take one of those out I would say Flash or Sturm. I like Flash but it's usually nade city. It's nice to play a map that a team has a chance of capturing all the flags though.
I wouldn't mind seeing Northbound or maybe Anzio in the list. I wouldn't object to Charlie. How about Snowtown or Dog 1? heh |

why do we no start adding some custom maps. i offer this because i love the map diversion. its awesome and i am sure many have played there from here. the other one i like is on the stormtroopers clan rotation. its just like a counter-strike map, dust maybe? it is much more fun on dod, i think, but thats because i hate cs. what we need to do is add these maps for a period of two weeks. then after two weeks post a poll in the forums and keep whichever one(s) win. i think that would be fun to try. |
