They sell a "60GB" hard disk, but when you install it and format it with windows, it typically comes out as 55GB. The usual stuff is said: "That's just the raw size." "It's because they measure 1GB as 1000MB". Now that disks are getting bigger and bigger, the difference is becoming really substantial, like 200GB only being 186GB. If a HDD is 186GB after formatting in NTFS with Windows XP, why can't the manufacturers say as much, instead of passing it off as 200GB?

Hopefully this issue will be next, once the printer-cartridges have been dealt with.

They just round it up. Like my processor is supposed to be 3GHz and it's only 2.991GHz. I want my .009GHz damnit! #Cussing out

If you really want to get mad...look at tire sizes...a 33 inch tire is not 33, a 29 is not....etc. Look at engine sizes.....they seldom match what they claim to be.

A 2x4 is 1.5x3.5
a 6x12 is 5.5x11.5

and a dollar is certainly not worth a dollar

No, but blaming JD would explain things a whole lot better

Has been that way for years with the drives. As far as printer cartridges go, they usually base it on 5 - 7% fill, which most people never do. That comes out to about 2 paragraphs double spaced, with 5 lines per paragraph. So, something says you should get 3500 pages per cartridge, usually comes out to about 2000 pages per cartridge.

Yep, its Windows inability whether FAT32 or NTFS to read the whole drive. It can also vary based on brand models and Linux/Unix are not always necessarily better.
