I think that we should all write to our congressmen immediately and tell them that we support another 10 years of ban ... why not make it 100 years while they are at it?

Lets keep these dangerous guns off the streets. While we are at it, we should ban all handguns too.

That would be unconstitutional since every citizen has the right to own firearms. Don't get me wrong...I think the idea of people having a huge stockpile of guns in their house is extremely ridiculous, but everyone has a right to protect themselves.

You can already buy an AK/SKS. Just not a Full-Automatic one without special ATF approval(Read: monster fee). All this ban did was say you could not have combinations of "Military" accessories on your rifle. Like having a lug nut and flash suppressor on at the same time.

Exactly, the third amendment man "We have the right to BEAR ARMS"
I know that my friend is getting a Steyr AUG in a couple weeks which I think is completly useless but I seen to have no effect in stopping him

Get your Amendments right. That's the 2nd Amendment. The 3rd Amendment reads: "No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."

So now I can get high (relatively) capacity magazine again right? Weapons are only as dangerous as their owners Shocky (assuming they arent shoddy pieces of crap). I say that individuals should be allowed to own any weapon or weapons system that they desire and can afford. If they use their property for ill then punish them severely. If people get killed as a result of malice, then hang them high Law abiding citizens should not be punished for the acts of criminals. Also, the ban outlawed semi automatic weapons, not full auto weapons. Full auto weapons and heavy arms have been regulated by several laws from the 1930s and the 1960s. These laws are still in effect. You arent going to see people running around with rpgs or select fire ak47s in your neighborhood anytime soon.
