we''ll sure enough we lost power bout 1pm sunday and went without power till this mornin bout 13hours, Not havin power is a pain in the ass, and were on septic so everytime someone wanted to use the toliet youd have to grab a bucket of water from the pool and fill the toilet tank up.

There isnt much to do when you anit got power except to hump like rabbits or get drunk. The Hurricane party was a blast we'd take a shot for every time the weatherman said bunker down and needless to say we ended up trashed by the end of the night, really we didint get much rain when the hurricane was right on top of us but i woke up this mornin to find my pool filled to the rim, checked the water gauge and we got 8inchs of rain some time between when I went to sleep and this morning, were still gettin weatherbands of wind and rain .. this is one hell of a long storm!

Man, this is not a good year for Florida. Charley and Frances have already put a hurtin on the guys over there, and now there's this silly little thing called Ivan on the radar. Only problem is that this dude's heading straight at Gitmo. Somehow we managed to get pretty lucky and have no ill effects from the last three storms that came our way, but I'm starting to think that maybe somebody upstairs wants a big storm to hit here, and he's just gonna keep throwing curveballs till we get hit with a whopper. The worst part is that if this storm makes it through Dom. Rep. and Cuba, that means that once again, Florida is going to be up to bat. We were looking at the NOAA site that had the storm history for the area, and the last time the Atlantic was this frisky, Gitmo got hit by Jenny, the third deadliest storm on record, and it took the same path they have projected for Ivan. Oh well, I have my beer and fresh water stocks prepped, and I have a case of MRE's waiting to be devoured should the pizza supplies be exhausted! Hell, maybe I'll get lucky and all the "guests" we have down here will get washed into the ocean! No wait, then I'd be out of a job

We were fortunate nothing happened here, thank god. We've cleared out trees and watnots way ahead and stocked up big time. It wasnt pretty.

Some people said that Frances didnt do much. Not true, if so, how come about 90% of FL lost power?

Speaking of power, generators during night really scares me. I keep thinking someones cutting the lawn, but at night?

Those who lost their homes, I pray for you. The worse thing you can possibly do is fall under a scam which those people promise you insurance coverage, but really they up to no good. Please be careful.

Hate to say this, "Ivan" lookes like a next threat.

You know you are right about that sound. when we had the big fire here and the power was out we had a small generator running to keep the refer and freezer cold. I remember how much I disliked the sound even though when on a job site it may be annoying but not something you would hate.
Weird how the situation can make the same noise mean different things.
