Will a stand alone version of cs or the gunman chronicles(yaya don`t laugh) once registered through steam give me dod. I know they sold or sell dod now but I can not find it and don`t want to spend 50 bucks on hl platinum which is all I seem to be able to find.

To purchase through steam you have to buy the hl package.

if it's the stand-alone of CS I WOULD think that it has a cd-key enabling you to play DoD. I don't know...don't quote me on that. #Beer

If the multiplayer, yes, if single player, I don't think so

I bought CS Retail all those years ago, and my CD-Key worked fine for opening Steam. I think buying any of "retail" version mods (HL, CS, TFC, OPFOR, BLUE SHIFT) would work.

yes retail cs should let you dl any game for use with steam.

Just find yourself an old copy of WON era HL. That will let you get steam platinum pack.
