This is a rant/tech problem/thank you to comcast
Well I finally got a comcast cable modem/subscription monday, as I was setting this lovely thing up i noticed that the cable is not working for my modem, I called comcast they said not enough power from broadband is getting to the modem......ya so i tried every cable connection in my house, nothing worked. So then i went outside and tried the connection directly from the ground to my house.......still all i got was the blinking light. So i went to comcast and they said they will send a tech guy out thursday (today) well he came this morning and he put in a new cable line running into my house from the ground, we tested my modem outside and it worked yay......then he left, so I brought my modem to where my computer was hooked it all up and it tried a lil harder to connect but still all i got was a blinking light, so no cable once again, i called comcast back they said he will be back out shortly....it is now almost 8pm est and he has not showed up, so i went and tested my modem from my front room line it worked for a bit then stoped working......and now will not work at all.......so then i tried the outside main connection again (the new one he installed, it does work from that. So unless I bring my pc outside i have no cable .........until comcast comes back and fixes this for me......so ya any comments suggestions similar problems _________________

aye i cant use my modem in my room because the line goes thru so many splitters and crap, and the wiring is 4 years old... you could run a line that splices directly to where it comes into the house, thats what ive been meaning to do but keeps getting put off... _________________

I am getting ready to rerun the cable in my house. I have found some newer and faster stuff, tee hee hee. I know it won't make a difference with what I have now but it will improved the picture when everything goes all digital (HDTV) _________________

Yeah if your lines are RG59 (which they are it is 17 years old) it won't work very well you need to replace it with RG6 Quad shield for best results. And run it direct from a 2 way splitter if you have cable as well if not run a direct line. They difference between RG59 and RG6 is the difference between a stir straw and big gulp straw. _________________ <eVa>Simpleman-V$=<RIP> |

Have the Tech run the line to your room that you have the puter in. Like a direct line type thing, son't have it spliced in. |

Very well said . The stuff I found though is even faster than RG6 _________________
