|
|
First one to answer this gets a soggy cookie.
In the past, I have managed to do a system restore on my 98 partition whilst in XP (home ed). I can not for the life of me remember how I did it.
Can anyone refresh my memory?
I have a hideous browser hijack that has totally destroyed my internet connection. Suprisingly, I wasn't looking at pRon this time. Was downloading clip art. Yeah that's it! Clip art.
The cookie is only getting soggier. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

Have you run the usual spyware removal program to get rid of this hijack? _________________

I just recently found a really easy way to partion ur drive .. IF u have more then one computer...
Take the hard drive Outta the computer you want to partition and then hook it up to ur CD/DVD drive on ur other computer restart and go into bios have it load ur new hard drive go into windows my Computer and then ur D: drive will now be ur hard drive u can go ahead and copy ur windows files from ur C: drive to ur D: drive since u said uve used it b4 it should already be partioned and u can add w.e files u need... THis way you can also save any information that might have been lost say if u had to reinstall the OS cuz it would n0t load propley or w/e...
I found this out by accident my cpu dosent have alot of memory to save stuff and i had a olld computer so i wanted to try to put 2 hard drives into one computer.. well i got it to work.. somewhat i have to switch the cables from my cd/dvd drive to my hard drive any time i want to access it but then my D: drive becomes a 20gb hard drive and surprise surprise It Still had all the old files on it ...so now i occansionay hook up my 2nd hard drive and upload my music collection to that instead of storin them onto my computers main C: hard drive...
Hope this makes sense to ya |

Adaware and Spybot find nothing. Hijackthis looks like way too much work. Reading all those logs and what not. If I truly have to, I'd rather remove it manually.
It's easy-search.biz and it has completely destroyed any and all internet activity on my 98 partition. XP partition seems to be unaffected. If I can remember how to restore 98 from within XP, I should be fine. In theory. Maybe. Perhaps. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

You must petition your computer to do a proper partition . |

Well, I finally figured it out.
It didn't fix it. So, I guess I am forced to d-load hijackthis and go through all that bull$%^ or format the drive.
See ya in about a month. _________________ Recipient of POTM award

KRG,
Go to Ad-Aware's support forum and you can post your logs there and get expert volunteer help in fixing stuff like this. They are really great. I had a really persistent Spyware problem and they helped me track it down. It took a while, but at least I didn't break anything else while trying to fix it. FYI, read the rules before posting, they are a little touchy over there.
Here's the link
http://www.lavasoftsupport.com
The nice part about this is that you are helping them to identify things that are not fixed by Ad-aware and can be added to their next update. So, you are fixing your machine and providing a public service.
Good luck,
FD |
