				| Day after day I will walk and I will play
 but the day after today
 I will stop
 and I will start
why can't I get just one kiss
why can't I get just one kiss
there may be something’s that I wouldn't miss
but I look at your pants and I need a kiss
why can't I get just one screw
why can't I get just one screw
believe me I know what to do
but something won't let me make love to you
 why can't I get just one f***
 why can't I get just one f***
I guess it's got something to do with luck
but I waited my whole life for just one
 day after day
 I get angry
 and I will say
 that the day
 is in my sight
 when I’ll take a bow
 and say goodnight
oh my my, my my mum
have you kept your eye, your eye on your son
I know you’ve had problems, you’re not the only one
When your sugar left, he left you on the run
oh my my, my my mum
take a look now at what your boy has done
he’s walking around like he’s number one
went downtown and you got him a gun
so don’t shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me
don’t shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me
you know you’ve got my sympathy
but don’t shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me
don’t shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me
don’t shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me
you know you’ve got my sympathy
but don’t shoot, shoot, shoot that thing at me
going down the kitchen at the top of the stairs
can I mix in with your affairs
share a smoke, make a joke
grasp and reach for a leg of hope
 words to memorize, words hypnotize
 words make my mouth exercise
words all failed the magic prize
nothing I can say when I’m in your thighs
oh my my, my my mother
I would love to love you lover
city is restless, it’s ready to pounce
here in your bedroom, ounce for ounce
oh my my, my my mother
I would love to love you lover
the city is restless, it’s ready to pounce
here in your bedroom, ounce for ounce
I’ve given you, decision to make
things to lose, things to take
just as she’s about ready to cut it up
she says wait a minute honey, I’m gonna add it up
 add it up…add it up…add it up…
 day after day
 I get angry
 and I will say
 that the day
 is in my sight
 when I’ll take a bow
 and say goodnight

OK, so who else got smashed, went to their highschool dance with their friends, did an air guitar to this song and got kicked out of the dance and detention for a week for screaming the potty word?

If you were a teenager in the 80's, especially in the midwest, this song was huge.

 The Femmes, baby!

				| Good Lord! You've never heard of The Violent Femmes?!?
Nanners, you are missing out, man. The song above is called "Add it Up". Track it down and listen. They are the best.

 I'm 34.

				| Will I grew up with the Femmes, but they did not define my rebellion. That honor belongs to the heavy/death metal bands of the late eighties and early nineties. I guess Nir Vana define it as well and some other grung bands. Hhhmmm I also will throw in there punk as well, like Rancid and such. but that was back in the days that MTV actually played rock music(not just music, but ROCK) and the show Remote Control was king. Sigh! | |

Blister in the Sun is also a great tune.

I was past highschool when Nirvana hit.

Oh, and to those who laugh at air guitar, if you weren't a teenager in Dubuque Iowa in the mid 80's you have no idea!

 God, we were geeks.

				| Yep, they rocked big time. I remember a crowded party in my dorm room in college when we played "Blister in the Sun" and everybody sang along doing the whisper quiet part only to yell the next part. Ah man, good times. We also did some mock 60s go-go dancing to "Rock Lobster" at the same party, but that's another rebellion.
Another time I was working a job that required a 2-3 hour drive in a van with other workers. Me and one other guy were young, but the guy running things was an older guy. When it came to decide what to listen to on the van tape deck, the old guy wanted country and western. So, the young guy says the Femmes. The old guy didn't know them, so he put them on. "Blister in the Sun" starts playing and the old guy was in shock. To try and placate him the young guy says, "But they're from Milwaukee..."
