Well, I dont really frequent other forums for the most part so the seldom I do see politics in a forum is far and between. Doesnt really matter either way to me, but I guess as long as things stayed civilized whats the harm? If you dont like political threads, just dont open them to read them. I dont read ever thread posted here cause some of the topics I know just wont intrest me, so whats the difference of a political one.

Either way it doesnt matter to me. If its not here so be it, if it is, ok. Just as long as ppl stay civilized and respectful I see no harm in it. Just remember we all have different view points.

Example, I take a shower ever day and wear a clean pair of tightie whities. JD on the other hand believes in wearing the same pair of undies for a week so when he throws them against the wall, chances are they might crawl away. But you see, we still love JD even though most of us dont think his idea of personal hygene is all that great. #Beer

My thoughts also AE.

That is a good reason to have civil talks about politics.

Honestly, I come here to escape all that crap. A little break from reality here and there.

A political or religious forum would be good for me. I could ignore it easier. But it would serve no purpose here in a gaming community.

While you may be able to avoid reading political threads, political signatures are unavoidable. Unless they are used only in a political post. While I may not care for Kerry or Bush, I don't think it's really needed that one of them is pissed on in a signature. That's a bit much for an opinion for these forums. It's offensive and draws anger from Kerry supporters.

How many people we have here? From how many countries? From how many different backgrounds/religious beliefs? There will never be an agreement on anything involving politics or religion. It's two geniuses playing tic tac toe. Thus, one mask ask theirself. . what's the point? Further more, what's the point of discussing it on a Half Life website?

I see no point in it here. I respect everyone's opinions. I'd just rather not hear them on politics or religion in here. It builds walls where the internet has none.

If they must be posted, at least make them avoidable. Lose the signatures/avatars and title the threads so people can have an idea that it's political in nature. I still say, when discussing politics or religion, it's impossible not to eventually offend someone.

That's my 2 cents Ladies and Gents. Fun! FUN FUN FUN FUN! Till our daddy takes our T-Bird away! Come on!

You're a great lady Mrs Keyes and everyone knows that. Don't get me wrong there. Didn't mean to single you out. I think they should all go, but the pissing one is just in bad taste.

No one should piss on anyone in these forums. Actually, I think Maaeebelle is allowed to pee on your feet. But that's it!

Like Sully, I've been here for over 3 years (that's scary), and for all of that time, political and religious debates have been discouraged and the threads usually locked instantly. There are reasons for the ville surviving all this time and one of them was the unwritten rule of avoiding politics/religion debates.

There has to be a billion sites to go to and discuss such things, I play here to get away from the like. I read the posts for the gaming side and to keep in touch with a few friends, because that's why almost all of us are here.

I agree with what Apache said. TheVille is a gaming community, not a political forum. You can find many other places to have these discussions, they just don't belong on these forums IMO. TheVille has always had this unwritten rule and I think it is one of the things that keeps the place alive.

Making a seperate forum for political debate just doesn't serve a purpose at a Half-Life gaming community. Especially bacause there are plenty of other places to have those discussions.

Before I read everyone's post I voted that the sigs are okay, but now that I have read KRG's post about the sigs I agree that they can offend people and may cause problems.

Threads and sigs on political and religious topics don't belong here at TheVille. That is just my 2 cents.

I'm sorry, but half the threads posted on this site don't belong on a "gaming" and/or "half-life" forum. There are many places to discuss political things, but would you rather discuss them with complete strangers, or on a board where you actually know and are friendly with most of the people?
