I say yall because it sounds better than "you all".

I highly dislike any kind of vacation advertisements that display Texas as the stereotypical cowboy paradise.

 Well...

When I drove through North Texas (Amarillo) on I-40. This is what I saw in the 180 or so miles.

 1. Welcome to Texas
 2. Canyons
 3. Signs for rattlensnakes (for sale and display)
 4. Blown over houses
 5. Abandoned Texaco stations
 6. A sign to take the 72oz steak challenge
 7. Amarillo
 8. A rest area that was over 80 feet tall.
 9. The world's largest cross
 10. 30 miles of construction zones
 11. Welcome to New Mexico

 Texas was everything I envisioned.

Amarillo and meeting up with Rockman was really cool though. It seemed like a nice little town.

By the way--any other folks here from southern maryland, or lived there?...other than Chief, Rebel Rouser and well Keyes, that is.

We have canyons, rattlesnakes, tornados, hicks, and constructing mexicans. None of these are included in my post. You're driving through the great plains on a road trip, you're not going to get much else. Heck I drove up to Las Vegas a few years ago and was met with miles of mountains, plains, oil wells, and rundown gas stations/diners until I finally reached the cities.

Drive through the cities and suburbs though. You'll still find lots of construction, but hopefully less stereotypical envisionments of Texas.

				| LOL, you can drive thru most of Nevada and its all deserted crap. You would think no one lives in that state until hit Vegas or Reno for the most part. That and all the freakin speed traps on the highways. Ive never seen such stupid speed signs in any state.
Arizona isnt much better. At least Cali/Oregon/Washington it seems like there is life as you drive.

				| Yes sadly its true, everyone thinks people from texas are cowboys.....we're actually no different from yanks, except we have more guns, and thats about it. Nobody i know has a texan accent, and we all say yall because its a much more usefull contraction, it was even used in middle english interestingly enough, so we're actually speaking better english than the rest of the U.S. :p The brits would be so proud....
