hey all... myu bro just called and woke me up about a problem with his comp so... i thought i would ask here on what he should do.
he just bought a brand new comp... so i dont knwo the specs of it.. but anyways...he also bought a copy of counterstrike. Im guessin condition zero. When ever he starts to play it, seconds into the game or menu, he says that his computer turns off. Now its a brand new comp, and it doesnt restart with anything else but CS.
I have no idea on what i could be, so i just told him that i would help him on it. so .... any ideas? _________________ if you think thats a soldier behind you? think

If its a new comp and you just put it on the net you have picked up mister blaster worm. Unfortunately you need to get that fix for it... I think you can get it from the norton site? not sure where. If the computer is shutting off every 30 secs or so you might have enough time to run the fix to get rid of that. Now if the computer works you have to run windows update (from the start menu) and get all updates for windows (critical updates) to protect yourself from another version of the blaster worm. I'm not sure if safe mode works with that worm on your computer...probably not. If there is another computer there download the fix and than transfer it to the infected computer.
Thats my guess hopefully its something else and not the pain in the ass worm..... good luck with it anyway let me know if its something else. _________________ There is a fine line between hobby and mental illness. |

From this statement here, I can say it isn't the blaster worm. If it was, the computer would be restart at all times. Right now though, are all the drivers up to date? also a ram test would be a good thing to run. Any overclocking? _________________ I need to make a sig, but I don't have the time. he wouldnt know how to check it... to see if its over clocked.... but the wierd thing is that its onlyhappening when he is in the menu of counter strike...
i guess the ram could be part of it.. iono... remember he doesnt hvae a graphics card.... iono if that could be it though.... who knows.... _________________ if you think thats a soldier behind you? think

It has to have a graphics card. It may be part of the motherboard but I was under the impression that it had to have one. It could be a driver issue. _________________

Aye, I'd say new driver to start. Also, can you start CS in safe mode? I know with several other games I have you can start them in safe mode. If you can do it that way it will allow you to get to the menu and play with the graphics options. _________________
