From the rumors on the steam forums, it looks like steam had a server crash or something.

They might have a backup of friends, or release a fix, but they haven't said a peep about it yet(Typical).

So I guess the only option is to re-add ppl

mmmm, guys, there is a fix for your empty friendslist. it came out the first day the list was missing :/


log out of steam,

get to your steam/config folder.

there you should see a file called "friendsdata.vdf", delete that one.

there you should also find several files called "userdata_*******.vdf"
(* stands for numbers)

get one of those files and rename it to "friendsdata.vdf"

now log back into steam and look if your friendslist is back, if not log back out and just delete the friendsdata.vdf file you named and try one of those other "userdata_********.vdf" files to rename. 1 of them will be the wright one. don't be worried you may have to delete a couple of those "userdata_*********.vdf" files before you find the wright one.
