Why does everyone like DoD?

I like DoD as opposed to ns, because there is some guarentee that people arent cheating. NS doesnt have VAC (I really wish it did), so you can never be sure if that focus fade that never misses is legit, while in DoD you know that the sniper that keeps killing you from 100 yards away IS legit.

I used to like DOD because JD couldn't snipe me there. Now he plays DOD too.

I don't care for DOD as much now.

It will never replace TFC for me but, like JD, I go where the people are.

I do enjoy DoD though. Since I can't hit the broad side of a barn with most weapons, I've found that the most fun that I can have is being a sneaky sniper. I can actually hit something when I've got a scope, and sniping rewards smart play while simultaneously punishing the crap out of stupid play. Believe me, I know.

The only problem I run into with sniping is that on some levels I'm just one of the hoard. When we've got 12 people on our team and 7 of them are sniping I feel a little guilty about becoming #8.

Anyway, try it again. Be open minded. You might like it a little this time. It took me a few tries before I really started to enjoy DoD.

I would play DOD, if they put mirvs in. I just really couldn't get into the mod. Tried to grenade jump..............didn't work. Tried to strafe jump..............no go. Wouldn't let me set a detpack..................what the heck? There are some special things in TFC that keeps me playing. Get 16 good players on Avanti....................how can you beat that? Anyways, I am sure it is a cool mod and it has a good following. It blows CS away though, from the little amount of time I did play.

I have tried and tried and tried again to find some enjoyment in DoD, especially because my brother plays it a lot, but I never can get into the game.

I think it is the "realism" that I don't like. I HATE being killed by an enemy I can't see. I hate recoil. I hate not being able to fire while diving/sprinting/jumping. I hate respawn times. I also think the World War II scheme is WAY overplayed.

I'm all about deathmatching and movement.

Good Games: TFC, Quake, Unreal Tournament, Elite Force
Bad Games: DoD, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Counterstrike

omgaw chen we're like brothers.

I hate all of this "realistic" crap. Man, if I wanted realism I'd go pay bills or something. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a game of DoD, or call of duty every once in a while but I don't like playing those games too often.

Another thing I don't like about games like DoD and CS is that it's soooo slow, especially in comparison to TFC.

That's an easy question. Mainly because of it's emphisis on team play rather than individual achievement. Valve is also doing a great job supporting the game.
