anyone have any ideas on getting TFC to connect to steam servers? I can connect to won servers through won but I can't connect to steam servers through steam.

can you log in to steam or you log in and the servers dont show?
if you cant login to steam, it does that sometimes you just gotta wait it out. i no its torture

You have to use Steam to connect to Steam servers. If it won't let you, wait a while. If it still doesn't work, try logging out and back in. If that still doesn't work, try deleting your ClientRegistry.blob file and restarting Steam.

Let me be a little more specific. I can login to steam, I can ping servers through the server browser and they show normal latency(for 56k that is) but if I click on join game, I launch TFC like normal, then I sit there and it says connecting to server, then retrying to connect, etc until it says unable to connect. I spent all of time around the end of last year trying to fix this, but to no success. This included things like deleting clientregistry.blob, reinstalling steam, connecting through the console, and many other ways. I couldn't figure it out at all. However, if I was to try to connect to a regular won server though won TFC I can connect to it.

I would assume so since I can connect through wonTFC to won servers, also one of the things I checked before.

I have tried over 20 different steam servers. The only messages in the console are the retrying to connect to blah, and unable to connect. I can do things on any other game, UT2k4, and the won version of TFC. I just can't connect to any steam games.

I have a friend that is having the same problem, kinda. When you get it figured out then let me know so we can try the solution on his machine. I would give advice but I am as stumped as you are.

| Ports used in won and steam are diff. Steam auth takes some added ports. Double check that your router/firewall isnt blocking them. |

The problem with that is that I don't have a router or firewall running.

Well it's most likely blocked ports keeping you from actually connecting. Don't know how that works for 56k though.
