I'll try and help. First you want to get your first conc against the wall or close to it. The second one you want to hold. Its best to try and time the concs so the beeps overlap eachother so timing is much easier. That way you jump on the first one wanting to be at the top of your jump when it goes off, then a little before the second one goes off while looking down at the ground drop it. If you find yourself not getting enough highth(sp?) drop the second a tad earlier. If you do it right you actually hit the way past the mark on that high jump.
The long jump is basically the same way. Jump in front of your first to get some distance and while looking down drop you second. If you drop it too late you will go up and not far.
fun fun
{edit after} well guess snag beat me to it, but ill leave it..heh

Now I finally learned how to rocket jump but can someone explain or show me the best way to conc jump? I have no earthly clue how do do this, and from what ive heard getting good at it helps tremendously. Ive tried but not sure the best way to do it.

A lot of people are having trouble with the cliff jump. It's no different from any other double (really!) it just takes a little better timing. Here's my meager advice to increase your double concing height.
First: Make sure you got the basics down. If you've gotten to the cliff jump in tayconc, you probably already know your stuff, so don't work about this too much. However, if you get REALLY dizzy (more than one dizzy icon) off of one conc, then you need to play around with your timing a little.
Second: The furthur you are above your conc the higher you go (up to a limit, where you miss the conc) Ideally you want to be right on this boundary every time. You can get there normally because the boundary is higher than you can jump. However, if you're already in the air or in water you can take advantage of this be dropping swimming to just the right level above the conc when it goes off.
Player(1): Twisted, How do I know how far above my conc to be?
Twisted: Go practice, ingrate! Do you expect me to measure it in pixels!?
You really just need to get the feel for it. But anyway, back to the cliff jump To get higher, try letting go of the second one sooner. You should go higher....unless of course you let go TOO soon and missed it completely. In which case, pick up your ego, hide your soapbox, and try again. Concing is a rythem, thirds and fourths of beep count. I often don't listen to music when I conc because I can't deal with all that noise. Or maybe I should just turn down my bass....
Ok, I got a little carried away in there, but I meant good, really! Let me know if you found this of interest at all. If people do, I might start a concing thread to help people out.

A quick tip, and something i think helps; Learn the timing. Practice with the sound off. It helps alot in the long run when there is so much chaos you can't hear the beeps, etc.
Just something i think helps.

I tried Tayconc last night. That was fun! I finally got past the long double conc, but only with 60 seconds left on the map.
For the most part I had the map to myself (JollyRoger and MyMunkeyeye stopped by for a little while), and I think that helped. I didn't have to worry about any other distractions. It also definitely helped to read the posts here on how to do the cliff jumps and double jumps.
If you want to practice concing, Tayconc is a really fun way to do it.
The sounds effects are a blast too! |

I have to say I went from being a conc lam3r to l33t c0nc3r after many hours of practice on tayconc. Ok, maybe not as "l33t" as people like Twisted, but I can beat the map twice in a 40 minute period. Here's my points for new conc jumpers:
- The closer you are to the grenade (i.e. standing on it) when it explodes, the less distance you will be thrown.
- That said, the conc grenade explodes out like a sphere, not like the circle that you see. If you are over the top of a conc when it blows, you will go up. If you are standing to the side of a conc, you will get knocked to the side. If you are somewhere in between, you will go out at an angle away from the center of the grenade.
- Beating tayconc regularly means you must master the directional conc. This means you must be able to do a "long" conc (be out to the side when it blows), as well as a "high" conc (being over top of it).
These are the lessons I didn't know when I first started playing tayconc. Hopefully it will help some. BTW, how do you do a triple conc? Is the trick to stay airborne (vertical) long enough to hold your third conc for four seconds?

Nope, you can't stay in the air long enough to prime a third one.
The trick with the triple is to get two full concs worth of height. Like you said, you get more distance out of a conc by being farther away from it. When you do a standard double conc (for height) you can't get a whole lot out of the first one because you can't jump high enough to get at the edge of its sphere. If you time the second one right, you'll get a lot higher out of that one than your first. That, of course, is because its farther away from you when it goes off.
What the triple does that is different is the first conc boosts you up high enough so that you can get a lot of air out of each of the following two concs. That being said, you can't prime two concs, so how? Throw the first two on the ground (i use a little less than one beep seperation) one well behind the other. Don't jump. Let the first one blow you up and over, hopefully you'll be high above the second one when it goes off. Then prime the third and use it like you would in a double conc. The triple is pretty hard to do on open ground. Most conc maps that require them give you special surroundings that make the process easier. Check out the last jump on Concmap2 or Concmap3, they are fairly low for triples. The way the jump is set up kind of teaches you how to use it as well.
