Certain towns and areas are just chokers when it comes to sports.
Chicago
Boston
Cleveland
and Philly
Philly's Smarty Jones choked at the Belmont to blow the Triple Crown. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

Wow hey, when did horses have the cognitive ability or brain power to choke??
they cant, he doesnt care whether he wins or loses. hes a horse. he cant choke, he just got tired. he doesnt even know he lost, or for that matter was even in a race. all smarty wanted to do is get a friggin apple or a sugar cube or something. possibly avoid the glue factory. face it. he didnt choke. it was just the luck of it.
also, i think america shouldve been rooting for the horse that won. we used to love rooting for the underdog, not for the easy choice for the win. we should be happy for birdstone. not upset about smarty losing. wow he lost once, big deal. birdstone lost alot more times.
I say, "Great job Birdstone. you kicked smarty's arse back to philly."
Also, should i mention that i hate horse racing. lol
oh yeah, and pittsburgh is known for choking. Does anyone remember Neal O'Donnel's awesome throw at the super bowl a few years back? i think it was '99 _________________

I disagree with Pittsburgh being a choke town. In fact Pittsburgh called itself "titletown" for awhile.
4 Steeler Super Bowl wins in the 70's, only 1 loss in '95 to Dallas.
2 Penguin Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992.
The Pirates won a World Series in 72 and 79. They did choke in the early 90's though.
Here are your sports choke towns. Hint: bet against them in the playoffs
1. Cleveland - The town stinks
Cavs - Craig Ehlo is all you need to know
Indians - No title in about 50 years. Jose Mesa blew a 3-0 lead at Florida in Game 7 of the 1997 WS
Browns - The Drive by Elway, The Fumble by Ernest Byner
Cleveland is known as "The mistake by the lake"
2. Philly - Zero Titles since 1983
Phillies - Lost WS in 1983 and 1993
Flyers - Lost in the finals a few times, can't even get back to the finals in a down year.
76ers - Lost in 2000 with Iverson. Won last city title in 1893 with Dr J
Eagles - Lost the last three NFC championship games
St. Joe's - Lost to OK St. for a shot at the final four
Smarty Jones - Lost at the wire for the triple crown
3. Chicago - The only reason they are #3 is because of Jordan. Otherwise they'd be an easy #1
Bulls - 6 titles with Jordan, a dumb GM even f's that up
Cubs - They are dumb enough to balme a loss on Bartman. They deserve to lose. Playoff losses in '84, '89, '98 and a blown 3-1 lead last year.
White Sox - Can't hit in the playoffs and can't win at home. Losses in '83, '93 and 2000.
Bears - Won it all with possibly the greatest team ever in 1985. Should have won at least 3 SB's...choked against SF and Washington.
'Hawks - Get no coverage in town. They were voted by ESPN to be the worst franchise in all of major league sports for 2003. That's worse than the Arizona Cardinals or the LA Clippers!
4. Boston - Celtics in the 80's and the Pats of the last few years make them 4th.
Red Sox - Bambino is all you need to know
Bruins - Nothing since Bobby Orr in '72. Ray Bourque had to leave to get a cup.
Celtics - Nothing since #33 hung em up. Great in the 80's
Patriots - Best NFL team of the last three years.
5. Atlanta - A fairweather fan town, terrible sports city.
Braves - Won 11 straight division titles and one WS win in 95. Lost the WS three times in that span.
Hawks - Craig Ehlo...does it to two towns. Jordan burns him twice. Also the 80's Hawk team with Dominique always came up short against Milwaukee, Philly or Boston.
Falcons - Big time losers...made it to the SB once in '98 and got smoked.
Thrashers - Have done nothing in their existence.
Honorable Mention
San Diego - Just for Roof
Padres - Losers in '84 and '98. Won a total of 1 WS game in those two series. This is still more than any Chicago team since 1959. They also BEAT the Cubs in 1984 when Leon Durham did Bill Buckner before Buckner did Buckner in 1986.
Chargers - Got their ass whooped by the 49ers in 1994 in the SB.
Clippers - Even THEY left SD _________________ Yes, I'm still around

Fans rally around Smarty
BENSALEM, Pa. -- Just when Philadelphia thought it had a long-awaited champion, Smarty Jones failed to bring home horse racing's most elusive prize.
The colt's fade in the homestretch Saturday could be considered another tale of Philly again choking in the clutch, or a heartwarming story about a horse that had little to prove after already winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness.
"I'm a Philadelphia sports fan myself," Servis said after the Belmont. "Our championship was the Kentucky Derby. If they can't accept that, they need to take this trip down the Triple Crown one more time and see where I'm coming from."
But it's easy to see where Philly's jaded sports fans are coming from. It's been 21 years since any of the city's pro sports teams won a championship -- the longest drought of any city with four major pro sports teams. _________________ Yes, I'm still around

Hey Frag cant we add Houston to that list?
Yeah we won two Basketball championships, but look at us now. We near the top and fall off the mountain.
Astros? Need I say more. Maybe this year can be different, but after the last few games, we have gone from 1st to fighting for 4th.
Texans are new, so lets look at the Oilers. Plenty of title's, but nothing else. Always the bridesmaid and never the bride.
We have a decent IHL hockey team, the Areos, and our lady's basketball team has won a few championships. _________________
