I agree I was at a server the other day thats message was.
"No we dont have stats cause it changes the way people play."
I say get rid of stats for exactly that reason, maybe keep teh daily awards or something but overall I say dump them. People definately play differently. |
This debate has been going on for years. The stats are still around even after all the debate. The only time I really look at the stats is to get Steam ID's when I need them. Makes it a lot easier to answer complaints where we are not supplied with all the info needed _________________

Actually back when TFC was still the only game available on the servers stats were removed for quite a long time. I forgot exactly why they were returned... _________________

I don't think the stats should be removed. People should have the option of playing for stats. Is it really such a big deal if the allies lose a lot on a map? _________________

I'm going to admit this. For a while in around February I was like "OMG I GOTS TEH 2.00 KD" and played like a chump to keep it up there. It's not like I camped corners or anything, I was just super conservative in how I played. My flags and KPM was super low.
But naturally I got over it after about a month. I started checking my stats less and less and realized more and more that people really, really don't care what your K D is. You can tell if someone's good by the way they play - simple as that. There are many players that I consider great who I'd count on to watch my back anytime who don't have impressive K D's. And likewise, there are players with massive K D's I'd never trust. Ever.
My collective K D isn't what it used to be but I couldn't care less. I like stats and such because I can monitor my improvement on certain maps (like freaking DONNER. How I loathe thee). I really think it helps.
Stats can help you play better as long as you're playing the way you want to play.
But I'll say this: no one can manage a good K D for a long period of time if they're not good at DoD. You might have a few good rounds, but you'll get what's coming to you. I just played Ava for a bit and killed this guy over and over and over again who'd lie prone on the table in the Hotel with an MP44. If you're not playing the way you'd like to play - you'll get pissed off at the game or you'll get bored or something. I think that I've enjoyed the last couple months of DoD the most out of the year I've been playing it. It's just really coo' to watch yourself improve and make some crazy shots, cleaning out the entire hotel or wheelhouse on your own.
In the end - no one really cares what your K D is. |

I like seeing with my K D is. I don't let it dictate how I play. I play the same regardless. What I think matters the most of any of your stats is kill per minute. Higher ones means you can stay in enemy territory longer and keep taking them out. Lower ones mean you are camping whore who sits in a corner where no one usually goes. (I'm talking about extreme KPM's) I can't remember, but there were two people who had over 3.3 KPM, which is over double mine. That's just insane. On certain maps (avalanche and merderet) my KPM is very high, but others are really low. I wish KPM was added to the individual map, that'd be nice. |

yeah, my kd, hahahaha, shouldn't have the k in there I could care less bout my kills/deaths, so long as i am trying to help my team.... i play on a dial-up (btw, is it remotely possible to lag a server- i was accused of doing this and was curious) and whenever i go to shoot someone, i am already dead.... (400 ping) so i just nade and run for caps.... i tried camping on kalt as axis in window by house and bridge, to see if i could help, but just got yelled at for not doing anything (killed like 10 people in 5 mins) which was fair, i felt like an idiot camper, but everytime i moved, we lost our fourth flag...... oh well, back to my suicide runs |

It is possible, but if the server is properly configured it won't. Even when it does it is usually not noticeable. _________________

So basically no you can't lag a server. The guy accusing you last night was just a tard who wanted to blame something for his bad ping other than his own computer. If I remember right, no one else in the server was lagging at all.
I forgot the URL, but there was some website full of ways you could lower your ping and increase your fps, and explained how and why it worked. It also explained how one user cannot lag a server. Very interesting read if someone remembers the website (it was posted a long time ago to help dod'ers with bad fps). _________________

Actually, there is a second exit route, if you go over the ark. I must admit it is a pain to get by there though.
The guy camping the doorway of the church is not really a problem. The trick is to move close to the wall, on the right side, and prime a grenade and throw it. I get the guy at least 70% of the time that way. The problem with allies on this map is they stay in that hill, waiting to get a grenade in their face. I can't believe it every time, to see these guys lying around on the street, easy meat. ANd then they complaint they get kill. You have to move close to the right wall EVERY TIME, and for the last 2 steps, you run them and enter the hotel. After that, it is a question of being better at sneaking than the other guy. _________________ PJ --- ancient IDIOT with a rusty CROWBAR....

Actually you can lag and crash a server like that. But u need about 8 - 10 guys to keep switching teams constantly, ive been on a server when it happened.(well back in teh day.) And as far as going to axis on avalanche, I hit auto assign, allies is fun cause u can cause alot of trouble in thier spawn, hehe. |
